Hmm hard to explain, the system is totally different from JC, it helps you mature more i guess.
The teachers treat you as friends and adults.

Basically who can help you in your task in poly if you just stand there doing nothing and not asking anyone for help? To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You practically present your tutorials, projects, assignments in front of the class all the time. It builds up your self-confidence, your presentation skills, your speech, your body language.. And the good thing is, you are treated as a young adult. Of course you can choose to skip tutorials and lectures, but the school director is not going to be like jc/sec sch principals. Drag you out of class and reprimand you in their office. Instead they send you warning letter or rather reminder letter that you might be expelled from school if you do not fulfil certain % of class attendance.
You no longer stay with the same classmates for all lessons. Sometimes you get allocated to a class where you know nobody. You do projects with a group whom you've never met before. And you learn to socialise with others irregardless of whether you knew them or not.
And best of all you are sent to companies for practical training out there. You learn how a corporate society is like. You learn the difference between studying and working. YOu learn how to deal with people. You learn what is politics. And you feel prepared to step into the working life.
Well, that's what I like about poly. But of course, uni life will be similar to poly life. Only difference is poly doesn't have any hostels. |
