SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has conveyed Singapore's sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims involved in the Phuket plane crash.
One-Two-Go Airline's Flight OG269 crashed on Sunday evening while landing at the Phuket International Airport. The crash killed 89, including up to 57 foreigners.
In a letter to Thai Prime Minister General Surayud Chulanont, Mr Lee said he has followed the news closely on the tragic loss of lives from the crash.
He said "our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are affected by this most unfortunate event".
Foreign Minister George Yeo also sent a condolence letter to his Thai counterpart Nitya Pibulsonggram.
Mr Yeo offered his deepest sympathies to the government and people of Thailand.
He said "our hearts go out to the families of the bereaved, the injured and the Thai people in this moment of grief".
