Wide Grin photoshop: swirly gel tutorial.

i hope this is helpful to y'all photoshop users! (:
click the images to enlarge the pictures.

1. first of all start a new document this can be any size, its good for signature backgrounds.
mine's 500x500 & i'm naming it swirly gel, resest your foreground and background colours to default (black and white) by pressing the 'd' button, now press alt + backspace on your keyboard to fill the background with black.

2. go to filter > render > lens flare on default settings but move then actual lens flare to wherever you want. do this about 3~4 times around the canvas.

3. you've done the basics of it, now we're gonna have some fun!
go to filter > sketch > chrome. put the settings as 10 and 0.
mess around with the settings of this a lil to get diff effects (first is for the top one second for the bottom) & press ok. you should have something pretty cool.

now go to layer > duplicate layer & once you have that in the layers panel, set the copied layers blending
options to 'lighten' you shouldnt see anything change
but on the next step you will.

4. okay, duplicate it so you have about 3 duplicated layers (twice more & you'd have 4 layers in total). each layer should be set to lighten if not do that (not the background layer).

go to filter > distort > wave & put it on any settings you like and click randomize a few times, so you have a cool swirly effect for the top layer, do the same for all the other layers but don't keep the looks the same, or it won't change. just randomize on all the layers and then merge down (press shift+ctrl+e).

5. last step! very simple, press ctrl+v or go to image > adjustments > hue/saturation & check the colourize box. now put the settings to whatever you want & click ok (i used 220 hue/100 saturation).

& now go to filter > blur > gaussian blur and put the setting as 3.0.
go to edit > fade gaussian blur & set the blending mode to overlay.

OPTIONAL
you can do these if you want, to modify the finished graphic.

1. go to filter > distort > twirl and twirl it by 450.
2. duplicate the layer and twirl it by -450 & set the blending mode to lighten.
3. press shift+ctrl+e again to merge down then duplicate the layer again
4. twirl it by -450 again, then set the blending mode to lighten.
5. merge 'em down & you're completely finished!

c&c (criticism & comments) are welcome for this tutorial.

Thanks for the tutorial =P. By the way the first image could be made into another tutorial as well as it kinda loks like rubber.
