It is possible the mother reads aloud daily to her baby during her pregnancy as a lot of mental development for the unborn baby begins in the womb.
It's not old wives' tales either to say that pregnant mothers cannot be crying or depressed during pregnancy or else the baby will be born crying day and night for no rhyme or reason. Emotions from the mother affect the unborn baby too. It is not the place, nor the condition, but the mind alone that can make anyone happy or miserable.
