Total SGC$: 1,291.38 | Re: Part time Jobs. Experiences... I have worked in various part-time assignments. Or rather, temporary jobs.
Ranging from customer service to flyer distributing.
I must say that such temporary jobs are at a rather disadvantaged position because although you are performing the tasks of a perm staff, you are paid as a temp. And that usually translates to less respect from the perm staff since they do not see the necessity to forge a close working relationship with you since you are going to leave soon.
However, having a lot of part time jobs experience when you are still schooling boosts your chances of better employment when you wish to take on a better job during school holidays. At least, if you try out a multitude of different jobs, you are considered well-versed in different occupations. You can thus bargain for a better pay by suggesting during interviews that your experiences and knowledge gained from other lines might be put to good use to the job you are applying for.
I personally feel that administrative or marketing or even sales jobs, enhances your marketability in the future. So if possible, do look for such jobs during your part-timing to accumulate more resume ammunition. Sales jobs are good in the sense that it teaches you people and convincing skills that the employer would be valuing in a good employee since essentially, every job requires interaction with clients or colleagues.
Therefore, since it is temporary and part-time jobs, we have all the freedom to hop from job to job to further include in our resume. That will reflect well on us in the future. But application forms usually asks you to indicate the reason for leaving your past jobs. Please do not say things like "oh I am tired of the job". Rather, say things like "I wish to broaden my horizons and try new things when I'm still young". That will impress the interviewer that you are someone of drive and ambition.
So yea, no temp or part time jobs are really good. So take your time and keep switching. =) The girl with the signature red font. -The name thee dare not speaketh- |
