btw, the outings and study group meetings proposed here are quite similar to those at Japanese Meetup @Singapore forum. Doing self-studying at the moment, cos jap classes clash with all my core modules...

any good textbooks to recommend?> | | | | | hmm... personally, actually i reccomend genki 1 & 2 for beginner to intermediate levels. i've used those books and found them pretty good. the vocabulary lists are comprehensive and are organized by "topics". the grammar covered also provides a good foundation for simple and daily conversational use.
Those were the books used as textbooks by my school when i took the classes. If you have started for a year already, maybe Genki 2 is more suitable as Genki 1 is really oriented towards first-year learners.
Hope that helps! |

what textbook you all using for your study? | | | | | I took some modules during normal semesters, and the textbooks i used were actually written by my teacher. Study more than a year liao but not consistent, so still have lots to learn..
Kino has got many jlpt preparatory books, but they are rather expensive if you intend to buy the whole set (which includes audio clips for practising the listening comprehension portion, whatever u call it) Some of my friends buy 1 set and photocopy the entire books, so as to spread out the total cost amongst themselves. |
