Yesterday I saw chinese newspaper reported that a singaporean girl lodge a complaint to MOM on behalf of her mom against a company that violating the labour act. She also wrote it in her own blog. | Quote: | | | | | Cloudywind said:
My mom is working at the Tuas South Incineration Plant as a cleaner under the contract of a private cleaning company. The company pays her S$700 a month for a 5-days work week. The pay is not high, but at least reasonable.
Now, the cleaning contract has ended for this cleaning company and the contract has been given to another new cleaning company. And so my mom's new boss had a meet-the-people session to tell the cleaners his rules:
1. The pay is reduced to S$500 2. Now it has to be a 5.5 days working week 3. There will be a cut in manpower as there should not be more than 3 people working at an area, regardless how large the area space 4. No annual leave and sick leave for the first year....... | | | | | Here is her blog: http://willythecop.blogspot.com/ To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. to fall in love is always easy
to start a relationship is always simple
to build it, is always tough
to maintain it, is 'better said than done'
to break off, is 'easier said than done'
to remain friends after u broke off, is never possible
to forget the memories is 'always doing but never succeeding'
to heal the pain within is hard and tough and never near simple
but one has to try to heal your own heart...

I'm guessing the reason why the previous cleaning company's contract ended and was not extended, was probably because this next cleaning company came along and offered a lower price than the previous one... Hence the switch over...
So the incineration plant, blindly wanting to save costs, accepted the deal without a thought of how this company's gonna achieve the level of service required and reduce costs...
Just so happened that this company's way of saving costs, happens to be ripping off and abusing the workers... |
