Next PM will be chosen by team assembled in next 5 to 10 years: PM Lee SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the process of selecting Singapore’s leaders is a never-ending process.
At a dialogue with Young NTUC members, Mr Lee said the next prime minister would have to be chosen by a team to be assembled in the next five to ten years.
The prime minister pointed out, it is most important "to be able to get people to follow you, work with you and trust you. (Get) good people to work with you, so you are not just a one man show. You have a team and eventually it's a whole Singapore team."
"What I can do is to encourage able, committed, good people to come out and have a team and form the team. One or two will emerge, who will be the leader(s) for that group. That's how the next PM would have to be chosen, not by me but by the team which I hope we would have assembled in the next five to ten years. We have already got part of the team. We brought in some in the last election. But the job is never done and we are hunting hard right now." - CNA/ac |
