I am a self taught right hand spinner, who had been playing for about 2+months. I am using a plastic ball ebonite maxim weight 11. My ball revolution does not belong to those high rev and ball speed is around 17 mph. I am seriously hoping that someone here will be able to guide me along as i am not really aware what is wrong with my technique from the taking off to the end posture. Had been reading and looking for videos to correct myself but still believe its better to learn thru actual hands on.
Can someone kindly tell me if i am required to change to a better ball for spinner. I was told by the pro shop owner that its good to switch over early. I had been intro to the following balls:
1) Total NV
2) Black widow pearl
3) Angular one
The balls mention above are all 11.6 and selling at $230 with drilling and plugging. I am not aware of which is better, hope that some spinner or anyone who is well versed in it to give your advise.
Kindly reply thanks | | | | |
Hi, i was a hook bowler but converted to spinner.. am self taught also.. only attending training sessions in my school, SP, hmm.. im currently using columbia 300 resurgence.. quite alot of pple getting dat ball cos firstly its reactive, wont get splits so easily.. haha.. eh.. dis is my opinion, which is, u should change it early.. neutral drilling as well to see how is ur revolution like n stuff like dat.. from there u observe n make improvisations..

If you're a spinner using a 11-lb ball, and intend to switch to a reactive ball of the same weight, I advise you not to get those high-end balls like the ones you mentioned. Reason being, the core of a 11-lb ball will be just a generic pancake core which is pretty much the same as any plastic/polyester ball (like your own Maxim). The only difference, perhaps, will be the coverstock (reactive urethane instead of polyester). So no point paying so much for a high-end ball when the reaction of it will be the same as a low-end reactive ball.
If you really want to change to a reactive ball, just go for a low-end reactive one will do, for e.g. the Ebonite Tornado.
Hope this helps. | | | | | The balls that's being sold are imported from Taiwan for spinners. That's why the price is cheaper, and if you take a look at it, it might look different from the original ball. For example, the 3 balls mentioned (Total NV, Black Widow & Angular One) are all dull surfaced compared to the pearly surface of the original ball (except maybe for Black Widow which I think was dull for the original one also). Also, the design of the Total NV is very different from the original one. I approached Uncle Soh (the pro-shop owner) to ask, he told me that if they're the same brand, they are roughly the same. Since the Black Widow is already sold out, that leaves the 2 Ebonite balls. I believe he also has at least one more C300 Resurgence and he mentioned that there might be a C300 Momentum coming in. Buying one of these balls might be a good investment as the coverstock was altered and also the weight of the balls are made to specially suit spinners, even though the core is still a pancake core. |

And yes, the coverstock & desgin appears to be different. Dunno is it for sale or has been reserved. TeamBOB.sg .... is up ... visit us ...
