Default Neighbour conflicts...

I just had to get this out of my chest.. and it's going to be a longgggg post.

The family living directly below us has this habit of using a bamboo pole to whack their ceiling every morning.. and at intervals (there's even a beat to it -_-). My family actually tolerated with it for almost a few years until my mum had the better of it. She confronted the guy from the kitchen window (by yelling downstairs and asking them to stop) and the man actually yelled back and said that we started it all 1st by throwing cig buds into their windows. Seriously, logically speaking there's no way cig buds can enter their house from any of their windows. If you live in SK buildings you'd proobably know the structure. In the first place, they have a cloth covering the windows and nothing can go in, and next, none of my family members smoke.

Subsequently the noise didn't stop and my mum reported to the police about it, and after which when the police left, the man came upstairs to confront my mum. Was very aggressive and demanded why my mum didn't go down to talk to him. But it ended off with them mutually shaking hands and letting the matter rest (or so we think....) Until we started getting regular visits from the police about 2-3 times per week. wtf right?

The complaint was always the same. We were too noisy. Deliberately dragging something across the floor. Always making noise at xx time, always banging and slamming the door at xx time. I mean come on lah, if you're living in a HDB apartment, things being dragged across the floor is common, people slamming doors also common what. Who is so eng to do it deliberately?! In the 1st place, at those timing he stated, nobody is even at home. What a retarded fella. They are the ones making even more noise... as and when there's a sound from my house and they can feel it below, they'll grab the bamboo pole and whack the ceiling REALLY hard. You can literally feel the pole below you if you stand at the point where they hit. And what's best? They hit from kitchen.. all the way to each and every part of the house.. power right?

The police came down to settle the issue once and for all a couple of days ago and came to a verdict that the guy (and probably his entire family) is abit "off " in the head and told us to be understanding and not to provoke them.

All was well until I slipped on a puddle of water on the floor last night and fell really hard on the ground. This created a huge noise (well of course when you fall the sound's damn loud even for the people downstairs to hear) and there again, they started the bamboo thing all around the house for the next hour. I had the better of it and decided to go down to explain to them and apologise and to tell them it wasn't deliberate. Then the accusations started, and my dad got REALLY agitated and almost picked up the fight with them and the police came again............

Well basically, I'm done with my ranting. I don't think this will probably ever end considering the family below are kukus in the head but this has caused distress in my family definitely. My parents went to the extent of getting a brand new vacuum cleaner that had rubbers on the wheels to prevent noise from being created.. They got rubber paddings for every chair in the house. We had to carrry up the chairs now and don't even dare to drag it. And still , till today, every little noise made, they use the bamboo stick thingy and we'll just have to tolerate. It's just such luck that I have nutty neighbours .

So guys, neighbour conflicts are hard to resolve. Even if you guys were told to go to CMC for mediation, if neither party agrees, the issue won't be settled. Whatever it is, just be tolerant since everyone is living under one block. Well, unless one of you decides to move out, once the problem starts, it won't end.

i understand what you mean. because the pple staying above me are also nuts! they drag the chairs, tables, sofa at unearthly hours of the day, everyday. children screaming, tv on very very loud, and even talking at loud voices in the middle of the night. i have called the police, police came, but they told me there's no lights on or any sounds either. even police knocked on the door, they say its not them who is making the noise, its the neighbours above them. come on lah, they think we are stupid, because if they dragging furniture, we directly below, can hear very clearly what. Police came many times, but still the noise remains.

Actually, the police can't do much. They would just advise us to contact the HDB for mediation.

TS, can see that u n ur family alr tried ur very best to accomodate..

From ur post, I tink the misunderstanding started when they tot ur family threw cig butts down into their window..

Dun mention it's not possible, my home kenna b4.. i'm staying 6th floor.. 5th floor aunty came up once n knocked on our door.. lucky I'm @ home.. after I understand her plight (she showed me photos she took) I also shared wif her our plight.. den she immediately understand we r also the victims..

She initially came unfrenly and threatened to report us to the authority.. I encourage her to do so.. and request her to include us in the victim list.. haha..

Thereafter, it reali helps.. i guess she reali went to complain..

Another story to share reg neighbour disputes is this ah pek who stay on the top floor of a hdb.. my fren worked in town council previously and handled such issues.. it's reali not easy..

This freaky ah pek will actually pour his urine down from his kitchen window and dirty other pple's laundry.. i reali pity his neighbours staying below him..

u all mus b eager to know wad next rite?

my fren knocked on this ah pek's door after receiving complaints.. of cos he denied all the way... n scolded my fren saying which eye of urs witnessed tat?

If i recalled correctly, u mus reali go prepared.. i tink my fren told him it was captured in camera.. tink e ah pek jus say go ahead n report him if ter's evidence..

the matter was not reported to police if i'm not wrong.. or the police push to town council.. can't rem le..

but anyway, ter's actually no photo.. but i tink e ah pek din do tat again..

So i think the better way is to move out lor

I made a terrible mistake That I can't take back. Now when I close my eyes, All I see is black.Whoever thought,That this would happen to me I'm not chained physically,But mentally,I'll never be the same,Never again.I deeply regret ,what I did.The mistake I can't take back.I regret it deeply, I just have one plea....God please forgive me.

To all of you who suggested that I should move out with my family:
Why don't you guys pool the $ then we can shift out? Lol... =D I'd love to shift somewhere other than Sengkang too.. so boring here -_-" and so suay with such neighbours.

To Bunneh: my neighbours also said that we saw wood at home and that we do it at unearthly hours -_-" maybe you are my neighbour!! *gasp* Ok anyway I figured that the only thing that would sound as noisy as sawing wood would probably be the vacuum cleaner? In my family's case, it's the aircon "sucker" that's making a huge noise whenever my dad uses it. He uses it to suck out all the excess water from the aircon everytime the aircon starts leaking... that's the only closest thing that I find would sound like somebody is sawing wood?

I've actually had suggestions from friends to get more evidence and witnesses hahaa.. but the sounds have stopped since yesterday.. I hope it remains just as peaceful. My family has become so paranoid.. everytime I ask them whether there's noise and they'll ask "why? got police come ah? " -______-" sian.
