MUIS to launch new website to steer youths away from radical ideas SINGAPORE: The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) will soon launch an interactive website dedicated to young people.
This is to engage them and steer them away from websites that preach radical ideas about Islam.
This was revealed by MUIS President Muhammad Alami Musa at a seminar attended by 250 students from various junior colleges, pre-U centres and madrasahs.
At the same event, Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Dr Yaacob Ibrahim cautioned that those who are naive, disillusioned or angry can become targets for terrorist recruiters.
There are reportedly more than 6,000 radical websites pushing radical ideas, even though they may look innocent.
This is why the new MUIS website called 'INVOKE' hopes to guide Muslim youths and act as a tool for them to reject radical ideologies.
The seminar - 'Building Resilient Youth' - is a joint effort between MUIS and Taman Bacaan.
The seminar also marks the beginning of a three-year plan by MUIS to engage young people by deploying more resources and introducing more outreach programmes.
