I want to complain about the new bench inside the MRT train stations . The bend is slightly slunting forward with a semi round shape . No body can sit still or sit comfortably or put your heavy things without falling .

I prefer to old bench which I noticed most ppl will occupy while waiting for the train to arrive.
I remembered once I got a very heavy bag with me and I tried on the new metal bench . My leg is short and cannot reach the floor so I tip toed in order to balance (as you know the seat is round shape like a needle) .

I think they think we are monkey can squat on the new bench ?

What's the use of putting the new bench if the bench no body can sit comfortably or put their thing safely on the bench ?

Everytime I saw the bench , I feel like kicking the bench , it's an eyesore to me , USELESS thing and yet it's implemented throughout the mrt stations .

I thought Spore gov is very considerate , and very careful in implementing huge projects like the benches . The bench is useless and waste of money . Anybody who sits on it will not feel comfortable at all .

this topic was in stomp and rather quite old... at orchard, they sort of change the seats already...but for other station its still the same...

haha. i think so too!
it's like the metal bench is so smooth & slippery, your butt can just slide off.
and the gap from the bench & the wall is so near.. your body cant really lean against it,
really uncomfortable. =(

I totally agreed with you. The design of the metal bench in Lavender MRT damn stupid, not even cannot sit still but also cannot put bag on it.

Anybody know who is the designer?

i heard they spend like S$20,000 (or move) to implement these " useless bench "

I want to know also . Haiyah , in the first place , they should not implement , now waste money again replacing them again . No wonder our train fare so expensive la.. No planning at all . No proper research done when implementing such a huge projects ... imagine 4 benches in each station , we have a total of XXX stations

Wow , it's not a small project you know . . I just wonder how much they had spent to buy those stupid benches and how much money was spent putting it on and how much money spend replacing them .. Maybe the amount is enough to buy 1 new train .... hahaha

with the poor projects implemented like that, no wonder eventhough all trains are full and packed sardines every day and all stations so crowded , they still complain they are losing money ... no wonder lah.. that's the answer of why they dun earn money . I just wonder any other stupid projects like that on the way , and when ppl complained , another cost to rectify them ????

i saw ppl writing in complain to SMRT, n SMRT replied tat it was a bum rest, not meant for sitting =/
it was in the paper long ago. but i'd rather they make seats instead of bum rest -.-

like the above, its not ment for sitting long period of time,
anyway there IS normal kind of seats in the middle mah.

doesnt affect me, rest or sit to me is a bonus, the train doesnt take forever to come.

quite true la..its supposed to b a bum rest.. not a seat..due to space constraints..perhaps they were more in favour of having a bum rest..its not meant for seating..so of cus u will slip la..
