to add on to what i've said earlier, one thing that i think could have been improved was that the govt has to do more to justify their actions, if not it will just end up with people just condemning them on the spot without any open discussion (like raise GST = govt eating money concept)...it's bad on the surface but how about some long term benefits and advantages? it would take some good research and probably a market expert to give you all the details on why an increase 2% GST helps...or may help haha...instead of just trying to condemn the govt without any evidence against the hike

Actually, there are some awakening truth to it and I think voters should always consider carefully as it involves our own future and the future of our kids.

I dun think anyone will want to vote for the opposition if they are TRULY happy...

I totally agree that the current party probably did a pretty decent job in moving Singapore forward...However as mentioned by others, it seems that PAP has start to take things for granted...More and more policies made do not sit well with the people...

I totally agree that other aspects such as justice, democracy and equality, principles and good of society as quoted above seems to be compromised because of their complacency it seems...

They should really start listening to the people...

Frankly...I hope the OPPOSITION PARTY wins...After all competition breeds improvement...

5 years all it takes to ruin Singapore? Sounds more like a rally call to support the Ruling party to me...Please stop treating us as like fools...Although our MM may have done a lot for the nation, its time to avoid over-respecting him and treat his advice as Bible study... We should really rely on our survival instincts and decide on what is really in our best interests...

That said...I do not think its easy to out vote the ruling party...Just hope that some close results will wake them up from their ideas

This topic shows which of the posters are still those in their carefree days (Read: Students, teens etc) and which are the ones who are already in society.

It's interesting to always read how so many people will just follow the trend because they don't know much about anything else and will just go with the flow. It's just a glorious, lovely cycle that the current party desires IMO.

Youngsters, students, teenagers etc will not give a damn about the political views of the country simply because the majority of them are still mired in their 1) BGR 2) Studies 3) See who's got the latest, hot gadgets etc.

This isnt their fault, it's part of the growing up phase. It's only when they graduate from Uni / Poly, step into society to start work and start to realise that money doesn't grow on trees, see their jobs being taken by FTs and can only bitch about how tough life is on them etc and just live life smelling bovine manure thrown on their face for the majority part of their lives.

So for the majority of you who posted on why you will vote for the current leaders simply because of hearsay, kopi-talk and not because you are equipped with the information available about our country in this time and era, dont get pissed off when you get screwed in your arse when you step into society...

If all else fails, there's always KY Jelly.....

P.S. hibubblegum>>>> Yea, isn't it great that the government says that we are a first-class country with first-class facilities, that we are now READY to compete with other bigwig cities of the world by having not ONE but TWOOOO casinos? That we are one of the best places to live in in the World but then again, somehow despite all these obvious apparent display of our strong foundation, we can still be wiped out so easily.... contradictory isn't it? Then die lah, it's either our country is a paper tiger or her people are just really really innocent to believe in the 5year tale (Read: Suckers...Naive...Gullible)

well said bro. after working for few years i start to know that life in singapore isnt a bed of rose....in fact it is much tougher....the younger generation will start to realise when they start to own car, want to have a house of their own.....basically the current garmen only want us to work, work and work....nv stop working jus to have a roof over our head and take public......

y is our MM Lee comming out wif such statement?? juz look back at the recent policies intro my our garmen and u will noe.......i can name a few, 1) increase of cpf age, 2) intro of more ERP when petrol is sky high 3) increase pay of minister.....how can 1 take it....so is such statement going to scare us??

agree..they shld seriously restrict the foregin immigration rate..how many sporeans are losing their jobs due to them? they are spoiling the market pay rate..

before discount $XXX
after discount deduct XX%.
then equals to a relatively cheaper price.
