'Minimum' Poly GPA to enter local U in 2008? - Singapore's Online Community

I'm from NP, final year student, expecting a graduating GPA of 3.62 after my current (last) semester. I am hoping to get into NTU accountancy/business courses.

Wondering if anyone knows the 'minimum' gpa to get in there? By that i mean the safe zone. I heard from my friends who went to Edvance 2008 that the professor mentioned something like 3.8 is 'safe', which is like whaaaaaaaaaaat? It's practically insane.

so hard to get in??????? 3.5 is impossible for me already..i think the most i can get next time is only 3.0..

hmm.. not depend on the average gpa of the students who apply for the course?

consider oversea study ? ..... the min GPA is slightly lower . some even as low as 2.5

depends on the course u want... unpopular ones, 3.2 can get in already, or even lower... for courses like optometry, maybe 4 or higher? hahahha maybe try checking it out in the uni website ba ^^ 3.62 is quite good ler ^^

probably overseas Uni will be a easier option... but quite expensive....

is there any gpa higher than 4?? lol
4 where got possible, mean since first sem need to get all As liao,which 2007 batch dun haf any,highest gpa for the first sem only 3.9+ lol..

considering, have to find a 'plan B' just in case i really can't get into local, haha.
any good overseas uni reccomendations?

it does, but i guess the professors are expecting quite a lot from this batch. therefore setting the benchmark at 3.8 :C

hmm..all along it has been at the 3.7 - 3.8 range..unless u r going for the more unpopular courses..then 3.5 might b possible

not really, for the past few years alot of poly grads have been able to enter local unis at 3.5 and above for the 'more popular' courses. well of course the popularity of the courses depends on individual

actually e last sem dun really matter? coz they're looking at ur 1st 5 sem results rite? as in, even if u need to send in ur last sem result at a later time, I think they alr accepted u..

anyway, not to discourage u. going for accountancy wif tat gpa rili seems impossible. my gpa currently is 3.69. but i believe it will drop for my las sem slack...

3.8 is a sure IN
3.6-3.7 50-50 chance, might haf to go for interview

they look at the overall...not 5 sems only

but my sis told me even though they request u to send ur last sem result at a later time, she did not even give it to them until now. she's already in her 3rd year in SMU. not sure for NUS or NTU la..

Hey, i was from NP too. Now studying acc at NTU. My avg was abt 3.7. 15% of your o lvl results is counted towards the admission criteria too. Would be beneficial if you have strong cca to support your application, though it's not mandatory anymore.
