SINGAPORE : Marine Parade is one of the safest estates in Singapore, said Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.
He said this at the annual Marine Parade New Residents' Get-together on Saturday.
Over 350 people who have just received their citizenship, as well as new residents of Marine Parade, attended the event.
Mr Goh urged them to participate in more social activities to make the estate a friendlier place.
He said: "Come forward, contribute your services, we have RCs, we have the CCCs, the Community Centre Clubs, all these organisations require people to volunteer their time and services to help others.
"We are going to pay much more attention in looking after the old in Marine Parade. Marine Parade has many elderly people so there will be special projects and programmes to reach out to the older Singaporeans in Marine Parade." - CNA/ch |
