Girlfriend throws shopping bags down during quarrel
HE went to great lengths to please his new girlfriend. But his outstanding display of love has now left the 24-year-old with multiple fractures and internal injuries.
The man, known only as Mr Meng, had just started dating the 22-year-old woman and wanted to romance her with gifts throughout the Christmas season.
On Monday night, he took her out for a cosy dinner in a restaurant in town.
Then, they went shopping, reported Hong Kong's The Sun.
BOUGHT HER CLOTHES
They went on a shopping spree, with Mr Meng insisting on buying clothes for his girlfriend, including two skirts that she did not really want.
He then sent her home.
But when they got to her condominium unti after 10pm, she suddenly got upset. It is not clear why.
She started scolding Mr Meng while they were in the corridor outside her fourth-floor unit.
She also threw two shopping bags over the ledge in a fit of anger and continued scolding him.
Mr Meng kept quiet throughout the tirade.
When the woman had finally calmed down, Mr Meng, hoping to appease her, decided to retrieve the bags.
He climbed over the ledge, but slipped and fell onto a platform two storeys below.
He hit his head and lower body.
The girlfriend called the police and an ambulance and accompanied Mr Meng to hospital.
Mr Meng suffered multiple fractures.
According to the doctors, his bowels and intestines have also been affected and may malfunction in the future.
But even lying in bed, covered in bandages, Mr Meng had to face another tirade from another woman - his mother.
She reportedly scolded him when she arrived at the hospital, saying: 'You fell? You should take better care of yourself.'
Mr Meng is not expected to fully recover for about six months.
