Malaysia's former football coach fined for attempted bribery SINGAPORE : The former coach of Malaysia's national football team Chow Kwai Lam has been fined S$50,000 for attempted bribery.
The 64-year-old was convicted for offering money to Zulkifli Zainolabidin, a goalkeeper of a club that he used to coach.
Chow apparently offered S$200-S$300 and a further unspecified amount to Zulkifli.
This was in exchange for letting the opposition score two or three goals during an S.League match between Paya Lebar Punggol and Home United in June 2005.
Chow testified that he was only trying to test the player's integrity.
But the judge rejected this. - CNA/ms |
