Total SGC$: 770.85 | what would make a good thread for ******? in view of the many complaints that many people have over lousy threads, i should think it is about time we made some constructive comments over what threads are desirable, and what are not. note that undesirable threads may not necessarily mean illegal threads, just threads that to some people aren't worth replying to and to others it is a one-reply-and-end-of-story type.
i personally feel that since ****** has more of a casual setting to it, and in our terms its just a place to "talk cock", but obviously some threads are more thought-provoking than the rest. popular threads i have noticed often deal with minor silly's that we encounter daily but doesn't register well enough for us to come back and post about until someone finally points it out and we go "oh ya! and i remember last time..................i feel it is really.............."
so, what's your take? To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. |

Total SGC$: 885.50 | Re: what would make a good thread for ******? I disagree that SGClub Cafe is a place to "talk cock". The place to "talk cock" is Test Tube. SGClub Cafe is a place to discuss a broad variety of topics that do not fall under the other sections and subsections.
A good topic is where there is actually room for discussion. And please, not more stories and articles! I think we have enough of them already. Debatable topics are my favourite, as different points of view allow a broader perspective of the topic, instead of the typical narrow-minded, one-sided view of a single person.
The threadstarter could provide background or additional information related to the topic. Don't simply post a one liner, like "What do you think of foreign talents?" and the message is "As above." The threadstarter should state his own view and if possible, maybe list down a couple of thought-provoking questions to aid discussion.
Of course, a good topic is not one that is discriminatory in nature, contains racism, filled with imcorrect grammar, etc. If you're the threadstarter, and least try to post properly so the people reading your thread actually have a clear idea on the topic!
There have been cases of the threadstarter posting something like this - "hey how are you today i am just here to ask if do you think the singapore government is good i mean they are providing for our needs but what areas of improvements do you foresee that is possible or maybe it is time to change the government and vote for another party in elections ... ... ... ..." You get what I mean
I think this is a good thread, as it can serve as a guideline for other threadstarters-to-be. Thanks for asking! To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

But what happens if TS types so much. Share own opinions. Ask more than 2 questions den ask people to share their views etc.
And yet, people reply with "Yes or No" or "I agree or I dun agree"?
Kind of....discouraging.. |

I will probably address to topics that are really serious, or in depth to my belief, or against my conviction that some sgclubbers post. I would probably stand up to what i believe in, giving out my 2 cents worth of comments to intrigue the thinkings of others who happen to browse through the topics, with my comments. Hence I would always want to be the first person who give comments, then others can see what are form of constructive comments made by some members.
However, I still give 1 liners that doesn't trigger my deeper thinkings, or those topics are simply a yes/no, like/don't like, mai/sua kind of anwsers. Paid to Click, Paid to Read, Paid to SignUp, Paid to Post:

people of this world are pretty much self-centered, sharing their experience makes them feels more lively and happy rather den listening to other's unless they are really lost/confused/indecisive
i guess there is no threads that is really THAT fantastic, well... i mean... i do post pretty much useless threads like the lastest "What is on your mind"
however, in the views of myself, a good debatable fantastic thread are not really that easy to come by as the community of people in this forum are somewhat between the age of 10+ to 30 max? teenagers and young adults, mostly teenagers actually, and what do teenagers care about? themselves, their lifes, their friends and family, gossips, gerfriends, boyfriends, fashion, etc etc
politics? not for most in here i guess
my point is, forums are not easy to maintain quality threads and replies, everyone plays a part, but not everyone will play a part, all we can do is probably invoke more ideas, going through a 2 sided views while replying rather den just having a one-liner reply...
however for extreme ones, like some unnamed posters in this particular forum, bad post reports shld be in commence if he/she get carried away 一生的友情。。。
一世的等待。。。
一辈子的承诺。。。 a friendship for life 。。。
a boundless awaitment 。。。
a promise harnessed eternally 。。。 |

though not in a chattin way, [Like u say hello, i say, how are u sorta of conversations]
but whats wrong with sharing your own experience?
We ALL have different experiences, thus the ability to CREATE a discussion, because of different experiences, we have DIFFERENT views, if everybody same den all reply "OH YA LOR, OMG I AGREE" people of this world are pretty much self-centered, sharing their experience makes them feels more lively and happy rather den listening to other's unless they are really lost/confused/indecisive
Yes, people ARE mosty self centered to a certain extent, however,
if they can relate to the thread correct, tell their own experience that IS RELATED to the thread, why not?
Gives more room for discussion,
i mean, how can u actuali have a fool proof guide line to a good thread? How great a thread, nobody wanna discuss, you also failed le. Thats wad i feel la, u CAN dont haf personal experience, but think, wad will the answers be?
one word or two word? den u say u dun wanna one word answers coz look sorta like spam,
Den wah lau, how? SG FTW!

Commonsense will tell you that a one liner thread is a poor thread. And one liner post is a poor response. If one really wanna open discussion, share experience or ask questions, do it in a constructive manner.
Ask questions, but filled it with your opinion....that is a good post. And never ask questions that is common sense (like 'who do you love the most')....
For example "Life after death" is considered a good thread. And this thread is a classic example of good thread. How about the"where to find fake katana"? I feel its a genuine thread that is seeking advices....becoz TS bothers to reply back.
Overall, posts that generate constructive opinions are considered good post to me.
By all means, share your articles, share your stories but understand that the best way to grab member's attention is to provide constructive posts. Posts that make people sit up and go ...."hmmmmmm"....And start replying with their POV.
Here is a rule of thumb i find it useful...."If you have nothing good to say, dont say it at all" If everyone follow this rule, one liner response will decrease.
And if anyone here ever thought that 'Sgclub' is like any other 'talkcock' forum, hope you change your view about it or change to another forum.
There are tons of 'talkcock' forums around...why follow them? To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
