I think Liverpool definitely has a chance to win the EPL this season. Only problem is Rafa's rotation policy - it should not be a POLICY in the first place. Rotate just for the sake of rotating is suicidal and crazy! He should stick with the form players and only change when there's injury - like with Benayoun now (so sad) - or substitute players who are really struggling during a particular match.

Thoughts, anyone?

Which 11 players do you think Liverpool should start wk in wk out if there isn't any injuries?

I like the look of this team,

--------------------------- Reina --------------------------

Finnan ----- Carragher ----- Agger ----- Aurelio

----------- Mascherano ----- Xabi Alonso ---------

Benayoun ---------- Gerrard © ------------- Babel

------------------ Fernando 9 Torres -------------------

Subs,

Itandje
Hyypia
Leiva
Kewell - He has the abality to beat players, suitable to put him when we can't break the opponents' defence.
Kuyt - to bring him on when we are leading as his high work rate will be useful to close down opponents who will be looking to level the game.

If only we replace Benayoun for Quaresma, it'll be a perfect team imho.

I like your idea of playing Gerrard just behind Torres, but I am doubtful about Alonso. His form really nosedived after the World Cup and he seemed to have stagnated this season. Very erratic unlike his first season with Liverpool - maybe he's missing Gracia?!

Also, Gerrard will have to resist the temptation of tracking back to help in midfield or defence otherwise Torres will lack support. As captain, Gerrard may drift down depending on how the team is doing.

Playing the right substitutes at the right time against Man U will be critical. The Mancs have great stamina and are dangerous right to the last second (remember O'Shea's goal at the last minute?arghhhhh!)!

Ya, i understand he may not be playing up to his high standard which he set for himself in the first season but in the current squad he is the only one capable of setting the tempo and dictate things in the middle of the park, everyone play better with him on the pitch too, Sissoko is a gd example.

It's interesting to see who will play on the right against Newcastle with Benayoun and Peanant both injured

Will Kewell earns himself a new contact come end of the season?

I think Rafa has a preference for his countrymen and Alonso will get back into the midfield. Gerrard will probably be moved to the right in the absence of both Benayoun and Pennant.

If Kewell can score soon, then he has a good chance of securing the left wing spot. Otherwise, Babel has a better chance.

Rumours have been going around that Rafa will be selling Riise and Sissoko besides Scott Carson in the January window. Anyone heard anything like that?!
