I think Rafa will rest key players for the game tonight, either that or he starts them and try to kill off the game by half time then take them out for an early shower. Hopefully elsewhere, the clubs above Pool will drop some points. =x

Talking about "key players", could it be that Rafa has yet to find a left back that can replace Riise to his satisfaction?

I've been wondering about this possibility when Agger returns : pair Agger with Hyppia in the centre and play Mr Reliable Carragher at left back. This can either be an interim move to give Rafa time to find a suitable left back OR this may work out as a permanent thing because Carra is okay anywhere along the back four ..

Thoughts ... everyone?

I think Rafa ideal left back is Aurelio, but he was injured for most of the time last season so he bought in Arebloa who was a natural right back and convert him into a left back so that Riise can move up to left mid as Kewell was missing thru out the whole season.

If Aurelio and Kewell can put their injuries woes behind them and claim back their places in the starting 11, and with Arbeloa, Benayoun and Babel all ready to call upon action when needed, i don't see Riise getting much playing time on the pitch.

I think what Riise needs now is a new challenge elsewhere. Let him go to Valencia and psycho Marchena to come over, so that we can have a good center back and in case the wingback needs cover Carragher can play in those positions. The future looks bright~

I think Hyypia will be mroe likely to rest instead of Carra, he 34 already, needs more time to recover, Gerrard rest isn't a issue wif Lucas and Alonso stepping in, hopefully Kuyt and Voronin can get some goals to build their confidence. Seems like Kewell is quite impt to Rafa sp maybe Babel will start this game.

Liverpool had a major scared until the final 3 mins. Derby defended well and nearly got a draw against them!

I hate to add this, but : it was a very fortunate win.

The team played poorly last night. Rafa must not think it is just down to clinical finishing because it is partly his error. How can you bring back two players who have not played in the top flight for so long, together for a premiership game i.e. Alonso and Finnan?!! .. he was probably as complacent about Derby as some of his players were.

The players made so many mistakes that even those players who are normally consistent and cool also began to make mistakes! If they played like that against any of the current top 10 teams, they will be clobbered for sure!

Boy, I sure hope their game will improve ..

Ya, Finnan wasn't himself, normally he is very compose but ytd seem to be abit nervous and he got a foul throw in the 1st half right? hey Alonso not bad mah, LFC.tv put him as the man of match leh, he distribute the ball quite well to me. Babel finishing was awful though ><

Aiyoh, Alonso gave the ball away quite alot yesterday and in at least two occasions, put the Liverpool defence is danger! Good thing it was Derby ...

Babel seems to play well only when he comes on as a substitute (?!). Goes to show that he still needs time to be cultivated. Aurelio was awful also and was clearly responsible for the Derby goal. When Hyppia went off injured and Rafa moved Riise to centre back, I thought this time sure gone case!!

Back to Alonso : Liverpool got a real problem here - Alonso is not a stopper like Mascherano or the great Dietmar Hamann and neither is Gerrard; if Masch and Alonso both play with Gerrard, there will be no room for wingers unless Rafa plays 4-5-1 ...

Ok lah, maybe i am bias here but if Liverpool didn't sign Mascherano in the summer i won't be sad =x

While Alonso isn't a stopper like the argentine, he make up with his vision and ability to dictate the play from deep. Without him the rest are often running out of ideas to break down teams that just park a bus in front of the goal post,in the end they just resort to those hit and hope which is so frustrating for fans to watch.

And hor, i think to play Masche, the best is to play a 4-4-2 diamond but we don't have a AMC which has Kaka or Riquelme de calibre, Gerrard is good but to play in the hole need to have the "seh" which i think he doesn't have it and so i would save the 17m and settle for a normal 4-4-2 formation with our 8 and 14 playing from box to box, 1 can tackle 1 can pass. The 17m can be use to find a winger with real flair.

Petrov, Elano and Bianchi, stop these 3 and it'll be 3 pts for the Reds, i think our centerbacks will be good enuff to stop the Italian and either Finnan or Arbeloa shld be able to mark out the Bulgarian, interresting part is Elano, the AMC who is a bargain at 8m for the assists and goals he had contribute so far but in Mascherano we got the best DMC in the world who can pervent anybody from playing their game.

2-0 to the Reds with Utd dropping points at West Ham, the gap will be closer again. =x

This will be Pool's 3rd game in a week. During these period of time, it is not easy for teams to collect max points from all the 4 games.

Man City's away form is not that good but I am thinking that they will be able to hold Liverpool probably to a 0-0.

I hope West Ham Utd would be able to prevent Man Utd from getting 3 points. West Ham travels to The Emirates Stadium on 31/12/07 or 01/01/08 after this game.
