TEEN ROBBER TO POLICE:
Let me off, I have exams later
HE was caught after robbing a provision shop and hurting a worker.
In a desperate bid, the 17-year-old robber pleaded with the police and the provision shop owner to let him off as he had preliminary exams later in the afternoon.
But his plea did not work and he was arrested, reported China Press.
The robbery at a provision shop in Klang, Selangor, took place yesterday at about 10am.
A 17-year-old student and his 25-year-old accomplice had allegedly barged into the shop with choppers in their hand.
A worker who was in the shop at that time tried to stop them but was slashed on his forehead.
After ransacking the place, the two robbers made off with a few packets of cigarettes and RM40 ($17).
But just as they were fleeing, a passing patrol car saw the injured worker running out of the shop shouting for help.
By then, the two robbers were already hopping onto a motorbike.
The policeman immediately blocked their path with the patrol car and got out to give chase.
The robbers reportedly tried to resist arrest by waving choppers at the policeman.
The policeman then shot the 25-year-old robber in his leg.
Seeing no escape, the teen begged to be let off.
The boy's reason? He had to sit for exams later, according to the shopowner who had by then also caught up with the robbers.
The shopowner told China Press: 'He told us he had prelim exams that afternoon and had to rush off to take his exams.
'He looks very young and even told us which secondary school he was studying at.'
Both robbers were arrested and taken to the police station.
