Not Lenovo cuz it's now manufactured by china factories. The quality has dropped quite a bit, so it doesn't get my confidence. Other brands like ASUS, Sony, Dell... the specs aren't good and the durability not what I expect also. HP and IBM's quality standard, tech support and repair & maintenance services are based in S'pore can be reached. After sales support and repair are important.

I used to think style and design is on par as criteria in choosing laptops, but after some experiences and feedback from friends, I've to admit some brands/models are 好看不好用.

Same here. No Acer, No Sony Vaio. Sony's tech support and repair very hard to get.

Toshiba's laptops' specs are average. It's resell value isn't as good as HP and IBM. In terms of quality control, durability and after-sales tech support, HP and IBM still tops the list.

Actually Asus is a very good brand . just that normal consumers dunno much bout the brand . normal ppl will think that HP and those brands are good . actually the truth is that all are using the same processor from intel . just check the processor model lor . most of the RAMs are oso the same .

Even though they have the same Intel processor & RAM, the casing's ruggedness, duarability, ventilation, the customer support & after-sales repair all have to take into consideration.

If I have 2 laptops with EXACT specs, but brand A has 24/7 tech support & repair centre situated somewhere easily accessible but brand B's tech support & repair centre are not in S'pore (overseas), which will you choose?
