Joey Yung' - HK star's dad and granny in shoplifting case
POPULAR Hong Kong singer Joey Yung's father and grandmother are embroiled in a court case, all thanks to a shopping trip at a supermarket in August.
Joey Yung could not be reached for comment.
Joey's father has admitted to charges of criminal intimidation, while her grandmother's charges of shoplifting have been dropped.
It all started in mid-August when Joey's father, Mr Yung Kum-fai, and her paternal grandmother, Madam Lam Wai-zhen, were shopping at the Wellcome supermarket near Madam Lam's residence.
Hong Kong's Apple Daily reported that mother and son were leaving after making their purchase, when a supermarket security guard stopped them.
The guard suspected that the elderly woman had unpaid items in her bags.
Madam Lam reportedly denied shoplifting and a heated argument ensued.
The security guard claimed Mr Yung threatened him and the supermarket's manager then called the police.

Mr Yung, 45, and Madam Lam, 60, were taken to the police station and later released on bail.
The police then charged Madam Lum with shoplifting and Mr Yung with criminal intimidation.
The hearing for the case started yesterday.
According to a report on sohu.com, Madam Lam's charges have been withdrawn.
Mr Yung, who runs a bar in Shenzhen, admitted to charges of criminal intimidation and is out on bail. His case will be heard on 10 Dec.
Mr Yung could face a HK$2,000 ($372) fine and two years' jail, or five years' jail. He is divorced from Joey's mum.
The Hong Kong papers were unable to reach Joey, 27, for comments.
