During the break between secondary school and junior college, many went looking for jobs. I was no exception. Finding a job with no experience was tough, but i managed to find a job agency-Biz Trading Group that has positions available as a drink promotor. Though sceptical, i applied online and was told to go for an interview at their office at clark quay. I saw an office that looked legitimate enough and took the job there. When my friends and i went to collect our pay, only one had her bank account number, so the admin there said that we could bank our money into her account first. Surprise surprise, the cheque bounced. My pay never came and i've been waiting for 3months now. Busy with school work, i could only call n call their office during my recesses and ask about my pay. Answers were always "Ask my colleage, i'll give you his number, but i'm not free now", "Call the bank"" or simply "I'm not free to talk". we called the bank but the bank said no bounced cheque was found in my friend's account. Subsequent calls to the bank was fertile as nobody seem to try helping us. I found this very irresposible. To get youngsters like us that have no knowledge about the payment systems to work for them, then to drag paying us our hard earned money. We worked just like them, why are we deprived of our pay? Just because we are younger, does this mean that we do not deserve an equal standing in the workforce? Labour is labour, we served, so we should get paid. To the bank, we do not study the bank systems in school. we do not understand how things are supposed to operate so please guide us along and not talk to us in a very irritated voice suggesting unwillingness to render help. Seeing how we were treated in this episode, i wonder why there is age discrimination in Singapore? Shouldnt credit be given based on capability? I appeal to employers, employ and credit regardless of age. That would make working in Singapore much more pleasant. i wrote e above to e forum at straits time.now im going to speak in a less polite way.

do you have the agent number? can call the agent and threaten her/him ma, cus it is somewhat like his/her duty (though u nv pay them, but the company will pay them) unless that company is so lousy until nv pay them the $ they are supposed to have and ur own salary, this one maybe report some workforce help organization thingy.. ?

no matter wat job or ageny u go work for... always get a black n white employment contract or document... if u nv sign anything they play u back say u got work for us mehz hw come no record... u also LL

btw Talent Source also another 1... i gana eatten 3 days pay by them also.... bt cant really be bothered cos they refuse to give mi a perm where i found a job tat perm n its 10x the pay the giving mi so well foreget it haha

ppl out there.. pls dun go to them.. they will call you even if you dun want the job.. force my fren to go for interview & i heard they try to brainwash you to quit your job so you can fill in their other position.

Must be thinking why i know all these right... haha... coz the company ppl talk so loudly in the office that you can hear their conversation

Job agencies not reliable.

Best if you go find yourself.

Coz they always post fake jobs to lure people.

I tried applied for this job thru this firm, they said no such jobs and asked me whether I need help from them. And it's on the same day they posted the work online.

Same situation they dragged my pay for 2 bloody months. Kept saying what bullshyt accounts got problem.. When I finally went down to collect my cheque (happy happy ) with a whole bunch of other people who hadn't received their pay guess what the damn idiot said? "Supervisor not in so i cannot give you money"..

In the end gave him my bank account number then they will bank in. But then WHYY didn't they do that in the FIRST place?! Make me go down all the way to clarke quay for nothing other than to listen to his lame excuse. Cheques take about 3 working days to clear right? On the day it was supposed to come i went to the atm to check. Nothing.. Still only got my pathetic $18 inside..(Yes Im that poor).. Ok nvm next day check again.. STILL NOTHING. Call the agent again and found out that they'd miraculously 'missed ' my cheque.. wow...

In the very end i got my pay la but considering the amount of frustration and anxiety i went through to earn that miserable few hundred bucks, it definitely wasn't worth it.

It doesn't matter how reputable the firm is. I think the MOM can ask the company to pay u, based on the law.

Actually, it is better not to go to Employment agencies. This is because the arrangements are made between them & the companies, not with u. So, u never know if u're going to be paid. Some things the agencies don't say, so u might be conned.

The agencies can send u to any company that u don't know. (Might as well choose a company urself that u know).

Also, it is not worth working so hard & letting these agencies & companies take a cut out of ur salary.

Better to find a job urself with a big & good company that will be sure to pay everything (OT etc.).

i went through kelly services before but they got pay me leh... maybe can approach your company n ask them why didnt pay..
how can ask ppl work le then dont pay.. so bad sia..
