Mum told to remove breasts or lose life
SHE had breast implants to please her husband.
But more than a year after the rushed breast job in a hotel room, a 31-year-old Malaysian woman was told by doctors to remove her breasts or risk losing her life.
Known only as Madam Tay, she decided to go public with her ordeal through the Malaysian Chinese Association's (MCA) Public Services and Complaints department, reported Malaysian papers yesterday.
The liquid implants had solidified in her breasts, causing much pain. After a check-up at the hospital, doctors confirmed the implants had turned cancerous.
Madam Tay told China Press that she had been introduced to a 'famous' Taiwanese doctor through a beauty salon in Johor Baru.
In Nov 2005, six months after she had given birth to her fifth child, she wanted to improve her figure.
Without her husband's knowledge, she arranged for an operation.
She met the doctor in a three-star hotel to negotiate the price, which was settled at RM6,400 ($2,900).
She told Nanyang Siang Pau that while she was in two minds, the doctor showed her documents claiming that he had done numerous operations over 10years in various countries.
She said: 'After I agreed, he gave me some medication which I had to take for the operation.
'The doctor's wife, a female assistant and a child were also present in the hotel room.'
In a daze during the four-hour operation, she only recalls the doctor injecting liquid into her breasts.
A month later, she regretted her rash act and told her husband. He was shocked that such an operation was done in a hotel room.
Her breast-size increased from a 75A to 32B, which made her happy.
About six months after the operation however, she began feeling severe pains in her breasts, especially during her periods.
The doctor told her to find a specialist, then became uncontactable earlier this year.
The beauty salon said they have also lodged a police report against the doctor. They denied knowledge that he used their address on his name card.
Meanwhile, Madam Tay is raising RM18,000 to remove the cancerous growths in her breasts.
