Her last name is Pempengco, I'm almost sure she has part chinese blood flowing in her veins coz of her facial features and good complexion. A lot of the early chinese immigrants in the Philippines sort of altered their last names to make it more christianized during the spanish occupation but retained a portion of it to indicate their heritage. Like our ex-President Corazon Aquino whose middle name is Cojuangco. Her daughter, Kris whose a celebrity in her own right later traced their lineage in China and found out their early descendants were from the Koh family. I would guess Charice's ancestors were either from the Peng or Koh family in China. Is Koh a common last name in Singapore? Funny, you noticed that too. Lena Park is also a talented singer but Charice is exceptional and at such a young age it's all the more scary. Can't imagine what her voice will be like when she's in her mid 20's. If you noticed, Charice is just coasting along in their duet rather than extending her full range that's why her voice sounds kinda toned down a bit. My only hoope is that she grows a couple of inches more so she can really have a much better stage presence and projection. The rest of her perceived weakness can be remedied with todays technology and coaching. If you know what I mean...  | |

I found out that Arnel Pineda won a prize in Japan in 1988 as the Best Vocalist at the World Band Explosion of the same year. The guy really rocks.  | |
