Japanese grandmother held over prostitution ring: police
TOKYO - A 70-YEAR-OLD Japanese grandmother was arrested for allegedly helping to run a prostitution ring, police said on Thursday.
Toshiko Uchida was arrested along with three men on charges of managing a prostitution club since January 2006 in Tokyo, police said.
They reportedly earned some 100 million yen (S$1.3 million) by charging up to 35,000 yen per customer.
Mr Uchida called herself 'Maria', police said. She reportedly told police that she would never do anything evil because she was 'Virgin Maria'. -- AFP
