A 25-year-old former Osaka University student was sentenced to 10 years in prison Tuesday by the Osaka District Court for killing his mother with a hammer after she scolded him for his failure to graduate.

Presiding Judge Kazuo Mizushima said Kohei Tsujimori of Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture, had committed the crime because of his extreme immaturity and selfishness, but has since come to deeply regret his crime. Prosecutors demanded 15 years imprisonment for the defendant.

According to the ruling, Tsujimori beat his 58-year-old mother Sanae with a hammer on July 5 after she told him, "Normally, a 24-year-old has already graduated from university and got a job."

In singapore, is a Yes... life-time sentence.. but in Japan, its different.. unless you commit something Outrageous or you raped and kill and dismember the victim then it should be life-time sentence, and beside he's a University graduate, so he shld have some face.
He just killed him mum over what she said of him . not planning to kill her... just snap his mind resulted to this

lol. gee. the sentence given sounds kinda ridiculous. Now u will see more of their children killing their mum's in japan. Its just ten years..lol. Well actually we have to see the situation. Not all homicide ends up a life sentence or death row. They have to study the situation really.
