JAPAN DAILY NEWSPAPER 'April,19,2007" 6 teens held over assault on man found drowned The Asahi Shimbun
Six teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a man in Kitakyushu in January after one of the group led him into an ambush after meeting him through a telephone dating service, police said.
About a week after the assault, a 30-year-old man in Iizuka, Fukuoka Prefecture, went missing and was later found drowned. At least one of the teenagers admitted they contacted the man, so the police are investigating whether they also have any connection to that case.
The group were four boys aged 16 to 19 and two 15-year-old girls from Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and other places, the police said.
According to the police, one of the girls invited the 28-year-old Kitakyushu man out via a so-called two-shot telephone dating service early on Jan. 21, and met him in front of JR Kokura Station in Kitakyushu.
The girl asked the man to take her to the city's port area, which has many shops and restaurants. When they arrived, the other five teenagers, who had been waiting for them, smashed his car windows with metal bars and tried to steal his money, the police said.
