Currently some genius has flashed the Jap Wii Firmware to US firmware so now we have Japanese Wiis that work exactly like the US set. The price is much cheaper so we have started taken in some stock for this kind of Wii.

Just to update everyone.

Fly_US, do you know any loopholes/problems that come with this set?

my Jap set is working perfectly now with firmware 3.3U. I tested with firmware 3.1U, 3.2U and now is 3.3U. All the Wii games, GC games, and channels work fine, even the Internet, News and forecast channels, as well as shopping and Nintendo Channel and some other Wiiware and VC.

The only problem so far is Wi could not read any disc after change the region if they do not change the region setting for mod chip as well. For people who using flashable chip like Wiikey or D2Pro2, then the solution is very easy without any modification on hardware parts. People who using D2CKey or the old D2Pro or D2CPro like me need to desolder a jumper on the mod chip, but its very easy, even for the total noob on soldering like me.

Of course, there are some risks like soldering problem, update wrong firmware or delete wrong channels. Only do it if you know what you are doing. And the good thing is you could change back to Jap set anytime, so if there is any problem in future update, then i will set my set to Jap again.

there shouldn't be any problem, in any case, i'm sure the mod will advise. since this is for the good of all who own a jap wii... besides... after doing that, we can safely buy original US games and play

okie fine, i will write a tutorial cover on how to change the region, what need to do with some kind of mod chip (Wiikey, D2CKey, D2CPro and D2Pro). Actually all the software and homebrew are not illegal, they are considered as software which were developed by third parties only.

Will update it asap, maybe tomorrow if i can.

sorry to let u guy wait, but really busy with a report today, and now almost exhaust to write.

And beside that, i heard some of my friends reports a problem with a WiiWare Midnight Pool, so i wanna check whether the problem is with the Wii or the game first to make sure everything will run smoothly.

Give me a day or two.

Besides that, DO NOT INSTALL ANY ILLEGAL WIIWARE THAT YOU FOUND ON THE INTERNET. Two of my friends now have full-brick Wiis after do it, so sad liao. Of course not all of them could brick the Wii, but who know which one is

What do u mean by that?

Somebody want to use firmware 3.2 over the new 3.3 because of *ahem^Trucha*ahem problem. If you follow my method and then downgrade to 3.2 again, the News and Forecast channels might not work properly (in my case they worked, but not on my friend wii). That is the solution if they stop working.

And AnyRegion Changer could also be used to change the region, but abit tricky. I prefer my method, straight and forward, just follow the step and done.
