Hi all,

sorrie. newbie to this Wii technology. i have a jap mod Wii set as gift. some qns i like to ask the seniors here:-

1) do i need to get the Wii freeloader for any US games?
2) interested to get Wii Kart, but heard that Wii Kart (US) will brick the console?
3) other accessories i get , eg, wheel, zapper must be compatible for jap console?
4) when i get "updates" from the menu/games, do i do that?
5) what else should i look for?

eh i can answer u no.3 all accessories are not restricted by country restrictions....its external hardware not a software

hello! need to know which chip you mod it with...

1. no, since ur set is modded.
2. no, if ur wii kart is backup-ed and brickblocked or ur set is updated to the latest firmware of the right region.
3. all are compatible
4. current mod chips except wiikey u can update ur set but the region is a issue. since urs is jap set, only update with jap games.
5. try not to update ur set with us (ntsc u/c) or europe (pal) games.

thanks for advices!

did a little "test" today. had some p***** english/games which wouldnt work on my jap mod console, v3.1j i think, replayed it with freeloader b4 testing them again, and it worked! not sure of the technicalities thou, but prob is the alignment of my Wii Menu went totally out by 1 square. any fix?

Latest testing, bought 2 orginal US games to play on my mod jap set, was able to play Cars and DDR.. anyone tried playing original Mario Kart US ver on their jap mod?

i think i have the same console config as you..i bought the game..but dun dare to try..must use the freeloader to play the US games??

strangely, hee, gettin more daring.. one fine day i will sure brick it.. but i played e DDR without the freeloader.. i tink, the firmware has to do with it, 3.1j modded allows games that was released up to dec or jan 2008. latest version on jap console is 3.2j , which i have yet to upgrade.

din dare to try the Mario Kart as its too new. so have to wait till i upgrade the firmware both both chip and software.

at least tatz wat i think, correct me if i am wrong.

is ur mario kart original? coz i was thinking..i update my wii to 3.2j using the internet option. I should be able to play the mario kart US version ba. or perhaps still nid to upgrade the wiikey to 1.9s?

check with u..ur kart is original US or jap?

Mario Kart Wii came out in 3 regions, namely,
a) PAL-EU
b) NTSC-USA
c) NTSC-JAP

On the disc itself, there are 3 partitions on the disc:
a) Game update (which will update your wii console if it does not have the required update found on your wii console.)
b) Game itself
c) Channel installer

The channel installer will install itself into your wii (which you can can choose not to install). The channel will appear on your wii main menu as a shortcut to the game.

Using the NTSC-U Mario Kart on your NTSC-J wii will have 2 outcomes:
a) Updating of your wii to 3.2U (but may brick your console as your base is NTSC-J)
b) If you do the update and get the channel, you wont be able to access it as it will return an error.

Alternatively, why not just backup your NTSC-U and remove the updates and patch the game to be region-free and it'd play on your console.

Below are 2 methods to get the game backup running:

a) Tested on 3.1J & Wiikey 1.9g, use ppf-o-matic to patch unscrubbed iso.
Apply wii update remover 1.0 and wiifrii 2.3b. ppf works for mario kart channel as well.;

b) Tesed on 3.2J & Wiikey 1.9s with WBB, must apply update from SSBB/MP3/MarioKart JP version at first(version number will be 3.2J after update),or lock up with black screen at loading. And the Mario Kart Channel is not tested yet ,install on your own risk.

Well, technically it's possible to backup wii gamediscs and use the backups to play (just in case you scratch the original discs).

i think i might have the same prob you encountered, when i did a upgrade of wiikey to 1.9s , encountered error, so i went ahd to upgrade the firmware to 3.2j , dan realised the process durin upgrade of wiikey 1.9s was wrong, can i still upgrade the wiikey still?

hey guys,

i bought a wii j set and semi bricked my wii by updating it from okami U.
is there any latest firmware from game disc cause i cant access the net from my wii at all.

U have to wait 4 a new game about Mario of Nintendo which will be release in June. May be it has a new firmware to fix ur brick. Let 's wait!
