Jack Neo's latest film is on illegal money-lending business in S'pore & M'sia

SINGAPORE: Director Jack Neo is at it again. He is busy with his latest film called "Ah Long Limited", which - as you guessed it - is about illegal money-lending business.
This time, the movie also takes you across the Causeway.
In a first for the director, the movie is a combined effort between Singapore and Malaysia.
At a signing ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, the producers were present, along with the cast including the lead performers -actress Fann Wong and comedian Mark Lee.
"Ah Long Limited" is Jack Neo's maiden attempt at black comedy mixed with martial arts action, as it features the rivalry between triad gangs in Singapore and Malaysia.
Jack Neo said: "The biggest challenge is that I don't know any martial arts. But I like to watch action films. And now you want to direct, you want to tell people how to fight, you want to do proper framing so that you can see the punch, the impact of the whole action....it's not easy."
"Ah Long Limited" is expected to be released in theatres later this year.
It is produced by MediaCorp Raintree Pictures and Scorpio East Pictures - both from Singapore - in collaboration with Malaysia's Double Vision.
For Raintree Pictures, this is its first joint venture in Malaysia.
As for Double Vision, it is making its debut in the industry.
All three companies are eyeing the bigger Chinese-language film market in the region.
Daniel Yun, Executive Director of Raintree Pictures, said: "We are very glad that we can have a co-production film with Jack Neo, because I think Jack Neo is the most prolific film-maker in Singapore and we are happy to bring him to Malaysia. The next film is to China. So, in a way we are going regional with a very, very local name. That is something we are proud to do." - CNA
