coz it is better to play the visual novels of kannon, clannad and air. watching the anime only gives you part of the story. playing the game give you a complete story.

hmm yea, i guess some of the people prefer to watch the anime though. i would prefer to read the story though, the visual novels.

anyway, why stick only to romance x comedy? missing out quite alot of good animes

depends on which title. among those translated, some of them are officially translated, most of them are fan-translated. but for the kanon, clannad and air they are still undergoing tranlation.

Clannad (Or at least, the movie, cause it's true, the Clannad VN is good stuff)
Hayate no Gotoku!
Welcome to the NHK
Azumanga Daioh (For Comedy only)
Zero no Tsukaima + Futatsuki no Kishi (It fits your bill in a sense, but my advice, go read whatever of the light novel is translated, it's like Japan's answer to Harry Potter, IMO better.)
