Importance of who knows you, rather than who you know in business?

I have read a book titled "Little Black Book of Connections" written by Jeffery Gitomer. Inside, he emphasized on the importance of who knows you, rather than who you know in business. Is it as he said that who knows you is so important when we want to start our own company?

A solid YES! This is what we call reputation, marketing and branding.

But anybody can start a company from scratch, with absolute zero network and nobody knows what your business is at the start. As long as there's effort being put in to network with the right people and market your business in the right way, biz will still come in.

Yap, agree. Reputation in business is very important.

When you have good reputation, pple will spread, but slow.
When you have bad reputation, pple comfirm will spread faster. Somemore, we are in Singapore, a small counrty, sooner or later, everyone in the same line will know.
