Default Ice Drinks

Every now and then, we would probably order some ice coffee or ice tea from the coffee shop.

It was brew in hot water and poured into a pack of ice.

It was said to be unhealthy.

Any "official" medical terms for it?

well i heard that kind of explanation before..

i think its due to some chemical reaction .. from hot to cold plus all the coffee powder and sugar chemical reacts and something happens..

thats my thinking..

hmm.. anything thats cold i thinnk is naturally not good, especially if you take cold stuff right away after activities.. eg. like ice water during running and immediately after..

something to do with your body internal hot vs a sudden cold intake..

some more, cold shrinks and contracts.. so i dont think its good for blood vessels??
i dunno, not an expert but thats my two cents worth..

No, there's no official medical terms for that.

Cold and iced drinks are to be avoided by some people who have asthma. The sudden drop in internal temperature when the cold drinks pass through the throat and lungs cause the muscles in the airway and air sags in lungs to contract and constrict the airway, triggering asthma.

Because ice is very cold, it causes the stomach muscles to contract very hard. And it's bad for the stomach muscles.

Bad for the stomach muscles? I've never heard of that. Can you provide a source or a link?

I'm sure many of us grew up on things like ice-kacang. Stomach's still working fine. When you say it's bad for stomach muscles, what bad thing do you think actually happens to them?

ok, but
1) Can anyone give me a source or a link to this constant contraction of stomach thing? Nothing to back this up how to believe?

2) And what happens if there's this contraction? What happens to the stomach in the long run? What bad thing happens?

the TCM explanation for this (cold drinks bad for us) is that it's cold and our bodies are warm. so when we drink it, our bodies must go and "warm" it, instead of the other way round. doing this frequently is detrimental to the body.

it's true, room temperature/hot drinks are way better than cold ones. i stopped taking cold drinks for years and my health has been really not bad. i dont fall sick.
