HSA warns of dangerous substance in "Mentalk" candy - Singapore's Online Community

SINGAPORE : A dangerous substance has been found in a brand of candy called "Mentalk".

The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said it has detected the undeclared chemical substance aminotadalafil in the ginseng and coffee candy. The substance is similar to tadalafil, which is used to treat impotence.

HSA warned that aminotadalafil can cause serious adverse reactions such as heart attacks and strokes in susceptible individuals.

Heart patients who are on nitrate drugs may suffer severe hypotension, which could be fatal.

HSA has advised the public not to buy or eat the candy.

It said that based on current information, the candy is sold over the Internet and possibly through multi-level marketing.

HSA is working with the relevant agencies to determine the extent of its distribution and sales channels for follow-up action.

Anyone who feels unwell after eating the candy should see their doctor immediately. - CNA/30 May 2008

This candy has imitations circulating around the market due to its popularity in Malaysia. It has exactly the same packaging as the real Mentalk.

Our company is looking into this matter and we hope to clear everyone's doubt as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, for those who have gotten mentalk from legitamate distributors, pls keep it. For those who got it from other sources, pls discard away.

When I 1st saw it... Looked like another LongFar gimmick... The LFI sales person tried to push it to me like yet another LongFar gimmick...

i'm working under LFI. Mentalk is part of our product range.

We offer slimming services and also have products.. snowy will know cause she is taking as part of her slimming (not mentalk but other products).
