How do i Update my Wii Firmware - Singapore's Online Community

sry i am a newbie to wii just bought it today
now i am have a US mod set wii firmware version 3.1u
how can i update to 3.2 or 3.3 without briking my console
can wii US mod set access to internet? how ?
can anyone help me pls ?

DON NOT UPDATE YOUR FIRMWARE!!! i updated mine and im having alot of troubles. with the new 3.3u firmware you cannot install HBC from burning disc. you must do it via twilight hack. don update is the best, brother! (:

You can update to 3.2u by update from disc like Super Smash Bros Brawl or Wii Fit. Just pop the disc in and run, it will ask for update.

Its better to stay away from 3.3 at this moment. In case you wanna try to update via wifi, which is not recommended, since it only update to 3.3, then go to ur Wii setting (The icon Wii at the bottom of Channels screen), then go to page 3.

Ur mod set could play any online game without any problem

My Jap Modded Wii is one month old, recently i bought this game Okami, when inserted, it prompted me to upgrade the firmware, should i proceed with upgrading? how do i check the current firmware?

Click the Wii icon at the bottom of your main Wii menu.

go to setting by click on the Wii icon at the bottom of the main menu, then look at the top right corner to see which version of ur firmware is.

Since Okami need to be patch with WBB before play, even with firmware 3.2J, so if the game is from another region, e.g NTSC-U or Pal, then u could have the duplicate channels. Or even worse, semi brick, which means can not using the setting. Both of the problem could be solve, but need some more knowledge about Wii.

Sorry, i dun understand wat u r talking abt? watz WBB and watz the correct procedure in order to play this game?

try reading around the internet? where did you buy your wii? the person never tell you?

anyway WBB = wii brickblocker, a program that blocks the update on the game disc.

maybe i should use the JB retailer perspective for this case ---> can play can already, even if semi-brick also never mind la.

haha... they said that, no wonder my friend say never buy games from JB.

BTW, google around with "wii brickblocker" keyword to learn something about using Wii, alot of interesting things to learn.

well, i bought mine in JB, it was very late and they were closing, didn't want to waste my trip there, so i quickly get it done. btw my version is 3.1j, how do i go about it then?

Well, in that case you might want to update firmware to 3.2j first (not the lastest 3.3, that one bring more trouble than help). I think the lastest firmware from disc is Mario Baseball Stadium, but that one quite hard to find, Wii Fit is another good option.

Find a copy of Japanese Wii Fit, then put to ur Wii, run and choose agree to update firmware first.

But do u know wat okami's version is?

firmware for Okami is 3.1, but without patched disc then cannot read. 3.2 can, but will have duplicate channels of News and Weather channels, nothing big but annoying.

google "gbatemp compatible list wii ntsc-j", go to the first address and check how to patch the ISO, very hard to explain in details leh. But i could say that u need to make an ISO file from the disc, patch it with Wii Brick blocker to remove the update part then burn to another disc. But u need upgrade to 3.2 first.

muthu, can we do a deal here, u lend me ur okami disc and i will make a playable version for u on ur wii in return plus lend u a wii fit (j) / super mario stadium (j) to updateu ur set to 3.2.
