VERYVERYMUCH !!
But my mother forbade be saying " You can't even take care of yourself , much less to say a dog ! "
But , my father bought a small hamster for me to start with. My mother says if i can take care of this mere hamster then i can consider having a dog. I love it and kept playing with it the first few days, then dump it aside. I seldom empty cages, change sheddings .. etc. (Don't worry, my mother does the job. lol) The worst thing is that, my friends come to my house and play with the hamster, cup it.. hold it.. WHEN I MYSELF DON'T EVEN DARE TO !! ):
Whenever it dies, my mother will always be the one to find out. (Yes, i have one at first and it died. Months later i have another one. lol)
But now i really want a pet !!
I want a dog. But I think you can see how irresponsible i am.. I want a companion.. Probably i would like a bunny.. But heard that cute, nice bunnies are not cheap..
Sigh. What should i do..

So if it's cheap or free, you'll go ahead and get it, only to dump the responsibilities to your mum?

From what I see, you just think dogs are cute, and you wish to have them. But owning a dog isn't that easy! Fyi, you will not think dogs are cute as they grow up
As for bunny, I think it's really best if you can check online - what do bunnies need -_-
If you can't "offer" them, sorry, answer is a no
And.. I don't think your mother can change the shedding etc whenever you have a pet right? http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/ra...r_rabbits.html To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. SLEEPING!~ |

i understand how you feel. but i suggest you give yourself more time. maybe get yourself a pair of goldfishes. the easiest to maintain. of cos, you will have to look out for things as well. e.g. any illnesses, etc. a dog carries a heavy responsibility. it is not one that you can give love for a few days then throw it aside to your mum like what you did to your hamster.
basically, you would have to groom your dog EVERYDAY if it's coat is those long type. also, you would have to shower it every week. and i can assure you, if your dog dosent like showers, the job aint gonna be easy. haha i know that cos my previous dog hated showering. XD not only that, you would have to bring it for walks everyday. and if you're gonna get a puppy, you would have to complete all the jab that it requires, then bring it for annual vaccination. a lot of money would have to be spend. you will never know what would happen to your dog. when it falls sick, it is a must to bring it to the vet. lastly, lots of love and care is required, especially towards a dog. of cos, there are many things more to add.
therefore, i suggest to think it over and train your responsibility. i know you can do it. just don't act too rashly. it will do no good to you nor your pets. i wish you all the best! and if you have any problems, feel free to seek help from us. jiayous!
Ganbatte!!

I mean those of the very good breeds are not cheap.( those with very nice fur coat, nice eyes..) and cheap ones to find of something similar is hard. :/ Not that cheap bunnies can't be nice...
The purpose of posting this thread is to ask people for their opinions and suggestions , how can i start to having a dog. Probably i can improve on what and what. And not to let history repeat itself.

See if you are mentally prepared for a commitment of 12 or more years. Life with ur doggie will have its ups and downs and u will have to learn to deal with the issues just like any other issues in life. Are you prepared to go through thick and skin on top of addressing the daily needs of the doggie.
In my case, it was my mum that pestered me for a doggie and now we have two
I am a first time dog owner btw. It has been 5 yrs now.
My doggies both need to visit vet for skin allergies. In fact, the first one went into fits and was in hospital ICU for 8 days .. was on the brink of death but thankfully survived. It was a tramatic experience.
A doggie to you must continue to be dear to your heart even if is no longer a cute puppy.. It is the emotional attachment that counts.
Having a doggie is indeed a rewarding experience, read, prepare urself mentally and if you think u r ready, prepare for a magical journey that will shape not only ur doggie but yourself.
Make the rite decision |

They are lives my dear not some doll you can play for a few days and throw away after you get bored. Pets have feelings too, do you think they wont know it if you toss them aside? A dog in your care will definitely suffer.I think as your mother says, you should grow up first and think about taking care of pets after that. |

and from how u take care of ur hamster, I can tell tat u are not a very good owner.. . the smaller the pet, the more delicate and caring u must be...
dogs require a lot of attentions and cleaning..
rabbits/ bunny can stink very badly if u dont change their bedding/ shedding (whatever use) often.. even though they are cute..
if u are not prepared to take care of it like ur pal or hate cleaning, better dont bother having one.. cleanliness is very important if u dont want ur pets to fall ill and die young
and if they are ill, it is very costly to take to the vet.. are u even mentally/ physically prepared? ur mother cannot help u forever.. she will definitely get fed up one day..
animals are living things, have feelings too (at least they know who is the owner)...
not toys that can be put away when bored...
sry if i hurt u... but I used to be a bad owner too.. so I dont want others to be the same as me.
