How would you rate your parents?

Ya, on a fact-finding mission agains...:handsup:

I'll start...

I was not close to my dad (in heaven liao) when I was a kid as he left all the child-rearing to my mum. My dad was fierce though. He would use the handle end of the feather duster to whack my siblings or me if we disturb him.

My mum is the clingy type. Even though my siblings and I are already lau kok kok with grown up children, she still treats us like xiao hai ze...very irritating man!

I feel THE generation gap with my mum that's why I learn not to repeat history with my children.

Overall, my parents were like fighting cockerels when I was young. Quarrels almost every other day... sianz.

The good part is my mother is a super duper cook and she has some very unique recipes that are to die for. So must treat her nice lor.

im oso nt close to my dad.. n somemore i dun like him lorz.. he's nt at home most of the time n my mom is the onli one doin the housework n stuffs lorz.. so poor tink.. but she nv complaint once.. my mom is the best!

I would rate them as the best ^^. Although they were very strict with me when I was young but I learnt that it was for the better. Parents are like silent sacrificers.

Used to be closer with my father when I was young, follow him whereever he went. But now, I am more close with my mother, and treat my father like a stranger. Through alot of incident. My mother are more understanding and more caring. Hate my dad.

i love my parents a lot. i won't say the best cos there's still room for improvement *LOL* but i know they've done their best and given us their best, and i really appreciate them for that!!

i'm back to talk abt my dad first~~~

my dad is patient, kind, simple and down-to-earth. he used to earn like around 1k a month and still he managed to single handedly feed our family of 4 and brought me and my bro up. although my pocket $$ was always soooo little, but i never complaint... hee i'm glad i was an understanding kid. *LOL* now it's time for me to repay~ =)

when i was a kid he used to bring us out to places like chinese garden or botanical garden over weekends to take photos of us with his cheap old and reliable camera. he used to like photography when he was younger. which is good cos now i have a lot of photos to keep my childhood memories with me! otherwise weekends will be at either of my grandparents' places... my dad always take very good care of me and my bro, asks us if he sense there's anything wrong, talk to us and listen to us... and love us a lot a lot a lot!

i still rem when i was in pri sch i used to take his company transport to school. my family can never afford a car so i never have the luxurious life of being driven to and fro school (until this year, i always find sitting in a car front seat is very exciting *rolls eyes* cos the only times i take cars are cabs and i sit behind one... seldom sit in car front seat *LOL* then this year my bf bought car liao

). have to climb up and down the ladder onto the giant truck in my uniform... hahaha~ sit with all the male factory workers etc. but quite fun lah...

when my dad was working he take co transport to work everyday and my mum will wake up early to cook lunch for him to bring while he bring bread for his breaks, so he can go out without a single cent on him... he barely spend any $$ at all but if me or my bro need $$ he'll always give us without asking much.

he can't afford to save with the meagre income as well, so it's like every month his income all spent on the bills and us... he used to just slog and slog, work OTs, work over weekends, work day and night shifts, just to earn his little bit of income to give me and my bro a good life... with literally no life, everyday he work his life away for his family, although he did complain about work, he still just work on and on to support the family... i really really salute my dad a lot. at present he's 58, a school cleaner, and earns $600/mth. but still ok cos my bro and i dun need $$ from him anymore~ my baby bro's in NS now.

now that i'm working, and earning much more than him, i give my parents $$ every month and i hope my parents will have more comfortable life, although they are just so used to their simple and thrifty lifestyle... eat every meal at home, never go out shopping unless for groceries and household items, only entertainment is FM958, channel 8 or channel U.

hmmm... piangz i wrote so much... okies to summarize it all~ i always think i have the most wonderful dad in the world!!!!! never otherwise.

i'm close with my mum. in fact when i was troubled over liking someone while i was still attached, i confide in her and she'll give advice. once i don't feel like getting married and told her i want to stay single, she just advice me that if i want to stay single, start saving now for retirement etc cos no kids to fall back on. she nv nag me to get married etc... in fact encourage me to stay single cos it's a chore to look after husband and kids and no freedom. we must have been such a handful for her! haha~

actually in those sense (on marriage etc) she's very unlike the very traditional and conservative mum she always is (no pre-marital sex etc, used to dun allow me to wear anything sleeveless cos my parents think anything sleeveless is too indecent and scandalously revealing!!). until now she still question me where i go, who i go out with, what time i'll reach home, what did i eat outside etc, although i'm already 26! but i'm pretty used to it so just report if she asks lor... dun want her to worry about me also mah...

only thing is sometimes when i talk to my mum she likes to ask a lot of qns, and keep asking the same qn... then i'll get irritated and say "why you never listen one?! i told you already mah... like that next time dun talk to you liao lah... since you never listen to me one!!" haha~ then she say she old liao become forgetful and attention span short. lol... she's not very naggy lah, just like to ask qns (like me) but sometimes she asks so much really make me frustrated. what i scared most is if friends come and she start asking them questions. lol... otherwise she's still ok, in fact a very very great mum!

Actually, sometimes the fatherly figure may seem cold and distant but in fact they truly cares for the family. Just that they don't show it openly.

oh oh oh~ then my mum is a full time housewife and never go out one.

putting her in orchard road is like putting her in africa... cos she almost never go orchard road or those city area one. mostly go out only to buy groceries for family... my parents are very homely and seldom go shopping at all.

once i wanted to bring her out watch movie... then she said... watch movie where got nice? pay so much... sit inside the room so dark cannot see anything, walk also scared fall down. want to go toilet still scared disturb ppl, aiyo~ so troublesome, watch tv at home better. got commercial break can go toilet or make coffee. anyway after a while those movie will show on channel 8 or channel U liao mah... wahahaha~ that's my mum!

and like i said, they very "old fashion" and conservative. wear spag top?? she once told me when i was in sec sch, that if i ever dare anything WITHOUT SLEEVES my dad will probably disown me for being so indecently revealing. to my parents clothes without sleeves already considered scandalous... spag tops?! might as well kill them... but nowadays i start to wear anyway... only under cardigans though!

i'm very well covered most of the times lah~ well i guess they'll just hv to learn to adapt to the current fashion...

my mum refuses to wear anything with a neckline that's soooo low that it'll reveal her... collarbone. normally she just wear those 6 bucks giordano crewneck tees. then when she wear blouse or shirts she likes to button all the way to top... then my bro and i will complain: why make herself look so doot! haha~

with all those said, i still think she's a wonderful mum! she taught me to be thrifty, conservative and her cooking's simply fabulous!! she scrimp and save to provide for my bro and i. love my mum to bits...

I REALISED I AM SERIOUSLY VERY LONG-WINDED... I SHOULD JUST BE A COLUMN WRITER OR AUTHOR OR SOMETHING... RIGHT? *ponders*
