Official psp battery is a Li-ion model, it does not suffer from memory effect. In other words, no matter how u charge it or discharge it, the battery life wont be affected. The battery life is actually depend on the date of manufacturing, due to the fact that Li-ion battery will gradually loss its life span as time goes by. So for example, if your battery is manufactured 5 years back, its max capacity probably dropped 30%.
So don't worry so much about the battery, use your battery to the max before it turns old!
FYI: Li-ion is commonly used in portable device such as handphones and laptops. Heat will affect how fast the battery age. Laptops that produces high temperature often causes their battery life span to decrease faster. I doubt psp and other small devices will produce that amount of heat, so no worries.

During this process the psp runs entirely on A/C power, it does not consume the battery power. It will just charge the battery at the same time. Personally I have always been "playing while charging", my psp and battery are still healthy, as good as just bought.
Another thing is about overcharging. The A/C will automatically stop electrical current flow to psp when the battery is fully charge. There shouldn't be any harm to the battery nor psp. I always leave my psp to charge overnight.
It is safe to run in 333mhz clock speed for psp. Technically, psp is design to support 333mhz, hence it is not overclocking. We said that it is being overclock because official psp runs at 300mhz. Running at 333mhz merely drain your battery faster (higher speed uses more power). However, I don't think it will causes the battery life to reduce if you are using Li-ion.
I know that we always heard or being told that overcharging, or randomly charging causes harm to battery. It is only true to other batteries. From what I know about Li-ion, its not true. It is good to know what kind of battery you are using and there on take correct actions to protect it.
What I wrote may not be entirely true. I basically did some research about batteries and how things work. Just want to find evidences for those myth about batteries.

Maybe take something and give more cash value. So don't be surprised if the batteries dies on you if you charge and play.
And also the myth about battery memories only applies to AA and AAA batteries, battery packs are not affected by memory effects. |
