Basics
Weight i think refers to body fats your are trying to lose.
Output of energy > intake of energy = body use up energy
carbohydrates (glycogen in muscles, glucose), fats and protein (muscles fibres) can be broken down to provide the energy.
To lose fats
1) Watch diet. Reduce sugar or avoid sweet things, starchy food such as rice noodles. Basically, eat less fried food and no sweet drinks/ cakes. Eat home if you can, avoid fast food if you do go out.
2) Exercise more to expand more energy. Jogging, dancing, skipping, swimming, cycling generally expands more energy than non aerobic exercise. The tougher and longer you make yourself work out, the more energy is expended.
3) Eat more vegetable. Vegetable are high in fibre which fills you up. Salmon sashimi salad are healthy and tasty options. Have 2 servings of fruit, and don't replace water with fruit juice.
4) Sleep well, and enough. Lack of sleep or stress causes you to grow fat or binge eat.
5) Have a motivation. Girls or wearing new shirt or reward yourself with some chocolate after a 5km run is some way for you to stick to your diet.
6) Jio your friends to cycle or swim with you. Make the activities fun and exciting for yourself to. Do rock climbing, or even play catching/DDR for exercise.
7) Be active. Walk if you can, or go for hikes. Take the stairs. Join a marathon and work towards it as a goal.
8) don't neglect weight training, muscle burn more energy than fats. Studies have shown its less than 10 kcal for each pound of muscle you add per month or something, but its important too. By doing situp and walking downstairs for chinup or log lift/monkey bar, your are actually getting a more active lifestyle. More muscle makes you look better too and higher confidence in your looks may give your life a boost.
9) lastly, don't give in to temptations! "i'll just rest today or i'll eat a cake and work it off later" is NOT going to work. You only give yourself a treat after you have perform well, not before. And not too often such that the "treat" loses its value.
work hard!
