Is there a window period whereby you feel you and your bf/gf should be together as a couple BEFORE it is time to get married?

I know the young generation of today will say they must be financially strong first, but how do you gauge in term of years when that will happen?

i think my range will 2-3 yrs.. that should be enough time for both party to save money and to truely know each other well enough to determine whether they are meant to be together.

Yep, financially stable is very important despite that our love may be strong to one another. Without a good stable income, it's very tough to maintain the family well,.. especially if there's kid(s).

My BF and I estimated that we'll be getting married about 6 years later when he finished his NS, have a career of his dream + a good income.

We're both 19 and so that's why we need 6 years.

actually there isn't a specific amount of time... there are people who get married like after 1 week of dating and people who marry only after like 10 years?

it's up to the couple
- if they want to settle down in family life
- have sufficient financial capabilities (which may take like 5-10 years to accumulate to a decent amount?)
- priority, career or family
- understand each other well enough

should be around 3 years i think? cuz too long... then the feelings will fade a bit in most cases, but occasionally u do see a loving couple after 30 years of marriage. and if too short... you may not fully understand your bf/gf's personality & character. it'd be too much of a risk if you settle down with someone you are unsure of.

Hmm I have to agree with Fool. Dating is just a period of time where you have fun, gauge and get to know each other. To settle down well its up to each couple. For young couples probably as long as possible till they hit perhaps mid twenties? For older couples i guess what they want would be company so yeah priority wise: as long as can clique its fair enough.

Personally for myself well since i'm 18 at the moment I still have about 7-8 more years to go. So yeah have fun and at the same time keep a wideeeee lookout for your 'soulmate'

Agreed. I dont think there is a period/time frame for it. As long as time is right, feeling is right..

Of coz, need to know ur partner well.. Which i dont think is possible within a year. So i would say abt 2-3yrs time..

I think need a period of time to understand each other better before getting marriage bah it is lifetime so must really plan well or else later regret bah

to start a relationship is always simple
to build it, is always tough
to maintain it, is 'better said than done'
to break off, is 'easier said than done'
to remain friends after u broke off, is never possible
to forget the memories is 'always doing but never succeeding'
to heal the pain within is hard and tough and never near simple
but one has to try to heal your own heart...

haha perhaps for some ppl it'll work out this way, but for others, after being together for more than 5yrs, they may suddenly realise tt the other party is not the one tt they want to settle down with for the rest of their lives.
so i guess it depends on individuals bah..
of coz, i would recommend abt 5yrs lahz..
