my baby shih tzu keeps chewing on newspaper(which we meant for him to be house trained) despite he have other toys!~


and he have separation anxiety, how how how?

in my view.. quite normal.. ahhaha.. they will bite anything de.. cos still young.. teeth growing... just 'shout' at him when u see him does tat then he knows its wrong.....

Dunno whether it applies to dog as well. But my rabbit chewed on e newspaper edges too when i 1st introduced it into their litterbox. E very 1st moment i saw it, i gave my rabbit a gently 'beat' (more like a pat la) on it's butt saying firmly 'No'. N i nv see it chewin e newspaper again.

how old is ur dog?

for example, i have 2 dogs..

only the beagle is interested in paper while the other JRT, is interested in cloth items.

sometimes, dogs are interested in their newspaper because of the smell. deter him/her from biting it by using reinforcement treatment either by scaring or rewarding.

try talkin wif them keep remindin them wat is wrong...jst treat them as "human" try nt to use "beat" as a teachin...dats hw i tram mine

Dogs r very clever animals... For the newspaper thingy, its quite common. They'll outgrow it. Gif it a bone to chew on bah.

As for the seperation anxiety, wat i did last time is dun bother abt them when they start barkin. cos when they start barkin and u go straight they'll tend to associate barking followed by attention from u...

smack the dog on its ass every time it bites the paper... or get it a tennis ball or a toy bone.. give the puppy time, it will grow out of that habit
