Hello all,
I'm not only new here, but also in sg (for only 2 months).
So sorry to start intro with my prob. Now I'm renting a room @ AMK. My problem starts last week when I found out that the owner is checking my room while I'm away. I feel that is invasion of my privacy. I've told the owner that he shouldn't check my room without my permission or while I'm away. But the owner doesn't care.
As I have got min 6 months agreement, I can't move out right away. Can I contact police regarding this? |

Regarding your case, Calling police may not help you solve the problem. The owner can check your room when you are not around. Cause he can suspect you selling / doing illegal things using his house. But when you are at home and the owner does that, it would be invading privacy liao. That may not be checking and may be peeping on u.

Hello!!
This type of tenant actually quite typical, my suggestion are as follows
1. setup camera in your room
2. record when you are not around
3. after successfully recorded and tenant caught red handed call your agent and tell him/her what happen
4. when they ask for proof show them the video

hi, welcome. My fren actually bought trap n set at his room while he is away to resolve this problem.... the trap does not harm cos its those sticky rat trap.... good luck and hope ur landlord will not be a rat when you are away..... hee hee hee

Many thanks for replies & advices.
I have got contract paper with 10-15 lines of agreement. (I can post all details of agreement if u guys want ) None of those mention about inspecting room or anything.
I have thought about setting up video camera, but I'm still concerned even after he get caught in video, momentum is on his side or mine? | |

What if he comes in and places some illegal things in my room, who will be responsible? Coz the room is owned by him means he is responsible for that illegal thing or as the room is rented by me means I'm responsible? | |
