FOR the entire month of July, the Northeast Ccommunity Development Council (CDC) will be celebrating the joys of racial harmony - and it's set to inject a bit of fun while it's at it.

Riding on the buzz of the Formula One craze in Singapore, it's set to launch not F1, but H1 - short for Harmony One.

H1's highlight will be a giant float, modelled after a race car and put together by residents.

The event, organisers say, comes at an appropriate time, given the latest round of terror-related arrests in Singapore.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Mayor for Northeast CDC Zainul Abidin Rasheed said Singaporeans should not lose their guard against religious extremists.

He added communites here need to find 'new and creative ways to enhance the message of racial harmony'.
