anyone knows what education we need to become a gynaecologist in future? like what subjects are needed and which university offers it ? (:

i'm planning ahead, i'm only taking n levels this year, hope to go through o levels and then hopefully JC [: but i dont know which subjects to take? anyone can help? :D

That's a medical field, would be good to go to a JC instead of a Uni. A levels with H3 bio perhaps? Very competitive, some staright A's students can't go in, you need good CCA and other out-of-academic records.

U need to have good grades in almost all your subjects, especially in science papers.

In poly/uni, u need to specialise in health/medical courses to become doctor, before you can specialise in Gynaecology.

If u think you cant get good grades, u can consider being a nurse/midwives & help out your gynae to help deliver babies!

You have to spend 7 years to become a doctor first and then 2 to 3 years to become a gynaecologist.

erm you meant jc instead of poly? because it's jc then uni right? O.O been my childhood dream to be a gynae, so yeah. i'll be trying my best (: and cca points count too? cos i'm in a private school with no cca. LOL.

midwife and gynae.. how are they different?

midwife are like nurses. They are nurses specillised in the delivery of babies and the care of newborn..

gynae more like doctors and specilised in caring for the mother and child during pregnancies. They help advise the mothers on issues during pregnancy.. do scans to see how the baby is etc..
during labour they work with midwife to help delivery the baby..

if not wrong, gynae can do cesearian ops.. midwife only do supporting roles.. but in natural labour midwife can carry our the delivery.. not so sure there..

Eh, ya, lol, sorry, i mean a JC instead of a Poly. Its extreme difficult for a Poly grad to go to a medical school as straight A's JC students are rushing to get in. Due to that, getting A's isn't good enough, you would need non-academic excellence to have a good portfolio.

and definitely go JC for tt. u can check out websites or dose intro booklets of unsi. some will state requirements so u can plan ahead wad to take in JC.

u need to get into JC doing sciences and maths , getting straight A's in JC, get into med school, finish med sch before you can think about specializing in gynaecology. that in total is about at least another 9-10 yrs?
