Ex-model scarred in vicious attack SHE thought that ending her 18-year marriage would free her from an abusive husband. But it did nothing to stop the jealousy that seethed in him.
In a vicious attack on 3May, the man allegedly slashed the former air stewardess and model with a knife, leaving deep scars on her face, neck and arm.
The 37-year-old Malaysian woman needed 50 stitches in all, reported China Press.
She claimed that the attack took place in her Kuala Lumpur home.
She said that despite having been divorced for several months, her ex-husband was a jealous man who continued to show up at her house to harass her and their seven children.
All the children were at home during the attack.
The woman said that her ex-husband entered her house at about 3.30pm, pulled her violently into one of the bedrooms and accused her of having sex with another man.
She said: 'My ex-husband used a knife to threaten me. It was like he had lost control.
'He yelled and asked if I was with another man. Then he used the knife to slash me. He said that he would make me blind.'
It is not clear how long the attack lasted or what made the man stop.
The woman said that after the attack, one of her sons ran to get help from their neighbours.
One of them helped to take the injured woman to hospital, where she was warded for three days.
The woman claimed that this was the second time that her ex-husband had seriously hurt her.
She told the Malaysian media that the first time was when they were still living together, but she did not give any details.
The couple got married when she was just 18. Sin Chew Daily reported that during their 18 years of marriage, the ex-husband was allegedly frequently abusive.
QUICK-TEMPERED
He would beat his wife whenever he got angry and he lost his temper over the smallest incident.
The woman claimed that he once humiliated her by forcing her to strip in front of their relatives.
She also claimed that he had threatened her with a screwdriver, holding it to her neck and private parts.
'Finally, I couldn't put up with his behaviour anymore. I decided to get a divorce, raise the children myself and start anew,' she said.
The Sentul police chief said in an interview that the police are investigating the case and are looking for the ex-husband.
