Total SGC$: 414.75 | Education Ministry to introduce calculators in Primary school maths SINGAPORE: Students may use calculators in PSLE mathematics examinations from 2009.
The PSLE Mathematics and Foundation Mathematics examinations will also be revised to a two-paper format, with the use of calculators permitted in Paper 2.
This was announced by the Education Ministry, which hopes to enhance the learning and teaching of mathematics.
Primary 5 and 6 teachers are undergoing workshops to prepare them for the new syllabus.
In line with this, the use of calculators will be introduced at Primary 5 in 2008 and Primary 6 in 2009.
All new teaching and learning resources will also reflect the changes in syllabus.
However, only calculators approved by the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) may be used in the examinations.
The list of approved calculators is available at the SEAB website ( www.seab.gov.sg). - CNA/yy |

to fall in love is always easy
to start a relationship is always simple
to build it, is always tough
to maintain it, is 'better said than done'
to break off, is 'easier said than done'
to remain friends after u broke off, is never possible
to forget the memories is 'always doing but never succeeding'
to heal the pain within is hard and tough and never near simple
but one has to try to heal your own heart...

FYI, the use of calculators in exam is to spend less time on counting and more time for solving the questions. I figure that maybe MOE realise that our future generations need more focus on IQ rather than basic maths. Or maybe kids nowadays are slower. No matter which, it has been passed down. So live with it. LOL.

in fact i didnt use calculators for engineering math now =.= (u cant even use it for algebra and calculas so whats the point)
cant be bothered wif it.. since i always have more than enuf time to do full calculations >.< so logically i think its a good move, that is provided they dun give u lame stuff like wats 12345 x 54321 and give better qns that challenge thinking instead.
still my amath teacher can do logarithms without calculator >>> GAY!! =.= (can prolly tell looking at his balding head with white hair that he gotta be thinking darn lots ^^)

p.s. 12345 x 54321 = 670592745 calculators rox my sox! To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
