You should just save on a monthly basis first. Accumulate your ammunition so to speak.
Have you taken up insurance? Consider insurance prior to investing. Do not combine both as well.

I hate it when people say they can't this n that because they have little money blah blah blah.

500 is not too little at all !!

Like I said in the other forum thread, I teach my brother (currently in NS) to use investment as a savings vehicle, by starting at $250 per month (more than 50% of his allowance leh)

This investment method is called dollar-averaging. (Market good or bad does not affect him that much)

But he did not invest by himself cos he is clueless, but he trusted me to do the investment for him by buying Unit Trust. From NS start till date (about 8 mths), he had saved $2.7k plus profit.

Can u compare his method to your method of saving into a bank n get 0.3%pa interest and can't even see the any gain, much less $700 profit in 8 mths?

I hope the above answer your question.
However, u seriously should not invest if u never do research, or be very sorry, trust me.
That is what I always say to everyone. RESEARCH!

Investing to me is mainly more for the rich because they don't know where to put or spent the money. People like me poor like Shancai difficult lah. Eat already not enough, don't talk about investment.

Yes u are absolutely right, u really shouldn't talk about investing your money.

But there is misconception abt investment, its definitely not exclusively for the rich, its for anyone who is educated enough abt investment n know how to research n plan.

For yourself, u can start off by investing more time to yourself, what u have is time.
With time, u can educate yourself n get out of this state of neglect

Help yourself first, before someone can help u.

It is never too early to start investing. DO read some books and find ways to do it. Passive income is real cool.

you can try to save up bits to accumulate & invest. The main thing is to start the saving regime with discipline.

Hi Rinoakoh, agree with you on the last few points. One should always invest in themselves before investing their money. I attented Clement Chiang's options trading course to learn how to grow my money. I am encouraging anyone here to learn to play with stocks or options, just wanted to say that knowledge when properly used is power. I know some of your friends may discourage dabbling in the stock market or anything in the internet but then if you truly ask them "have you gone for any course or done any research?", their answers are usually a big fat NO. One does not need to be in the stock market, there are many other course that help you learn how to invest your monthly savings. Some are risky but worth a try. After all, if you want something bad enough, don't you think you would want to gain the knowlege? Cheers

If you can save $500 per mth, 1 year can save $6000. You can invest in Unit Trusts with an initial capital of $1k. Before you start investing your money, invest in knowledge first. Go to the library and borrow some books on investments.

Try to start with shares like I do. After that, you can proceed to options. Or perhaps like me, do some online stuffs that gives you passive income every month.
