Rexx: If you just want to play games, get an R4, you can't be wrong. Its one of the most popular cart in the market now. Its user-friendliness is an added plus. There are actually no ground-breaking differences between DSTT, R4DS and CycloDS. If you want to have larger capacity to store your game and media stuff, get DSTT or CycloDS because they have SDHC support. R4 doesn't have SDHC support currently, without SDHC support, the flashcart can only read and write to a memory card of not more than 2GB.

Getting a CycloDS doesn't seem wise as its pretty expensive, but it has some unique features, like Real-time save and in-game enhance mode, you can slow down the game, much like playing on an emulator. If you can find a DSTT bundle pack, get DSTT, because it comes with the DSTT, GBA loader/RAM pak and rumble pak. Therefore, DSTT's bundle deal is more value-for-money. R4 is very popular, so asking for help would be easy so you may also want to consider R4 because of the vast community.

thanks 1c3D3mon....However i come across with this site
http://www.gadgetgear.com.au/product...oducts_id=3336
it says it does support "Organizer Software (PDA, file browser, web browser, IRC client, text editor, calculator and more!)" i assume this is the homebrew software i see in the forum? and what does it mean by Free 'Rumble' expansion?!

Rexx: I woudl assume the free rumble expansion refers to the rumble pak. Since the "What's in the box" list doesn't say anything about GBA/RAM expansion and a rumble pak, that website sell DSTT alone, its not a bundle package. About the organiser software, it refers to homebrew. R4DS don't support homebrew?! That's ridiculous , almost every flashcart out in the market now supports about 99% of the homebrew due to DLDI. I wouldn't explain DLDI here unless you want to, but ya, that allow flashcarts to run most homebrews, only the very old homebrew which haven't been updated for years wouldn't work. R4 does have have springs for loading memory cards, but it has been removed since there are many complains about it being broken easily.

Organizer Software (PDA, file browser, web browser, IRC client, text editor, calculator and more!), there actually a homebrew which does all that, its called DSOrganize, and ye,s its a homebrew and R4DS supports it.

well, there really isn't any difference in the console itself. Just that some shop owners claim that the local sets have some manufacturing process done in SG, ie, better build quality. I don't really buy that lah. But it's really up to you whether you like to see "Made in China" or "Made in whereever else".

Local set got local 240V charger and the 3 months warranty provided by Maxsoft. Then again, Nintendo products are pretty hardy. Break down usually won't happen within 3 months.

"does it really matter u are playing using a imported one or a local one?!" - I don't think so.

I admit I'm biased.

Rexx: As a matter of fact, its hard to find flashcarts of any kind nowadays since the raid, so don't raise your hope of finding them in Singapore. Your best bet will be to get them online. Import set or local set, it doesn't matter as its most likely that both consoles are Made in China. don't worry as most product now are made in china, they have the quality control form Nintendo, so you can be sure that the quality wouldn't be greatly affected. I suppose that Made in Japan sets are only found in Japan. Yes, like nuhc says, import sets have a different manual and different charger. If the set is from the US, the manual shouldn't be a problem as it would be in english, as for the charger, the shop selling the NDS would replace it with something suitable for Singapore.

Note that NO parts in the NDS are manufactured in Singapore, so if anyone were to say that, they are lying.

Rexx: For local set, its 3 months by Maxsoft, the local NDS distributor. In other country where they get the warranty directly from Nintendo, they get 1 year warranty. When you get an import set, you will most likely to have the warranty covered by the store selling the NDS and the warranty period differs from store to store.

Rexx: If you plan to get mod your PSP, then its highly recommended to get a 1 year warranty. But its NDS you are talking about. there's nothing much to worry about. Hinge crack and breaking is an area of worry though.

actually, the only think you have to worry about is the chargers.

See what types of chargers are the shops offering - as a package or top up or the export set (according to some government website, apparantly you don't have to pay GST for export sets).

There was only 1 rare case I heard: The 3rd party charger offered by the shop, overheated the battery during charging.

Most of the shops I went offered the chargers with nintendo printed on them or in boxes printed with the official logo. Not sure if they're authenticated but I feel safer i guess?
